Chapter Three: The Warning

I was in the middle of answering some questions from my exam when I felt that familiar feeling I felt when I was in the the car and in the bathrooms.

The feeling that someone is staring at me. Or maybe it's just one of my classmates?

I stopped what I was doing and looked around pero lahat ng kaklase ko ay busy sa pagsasagot.

"Is there a problem, Miss Morgenstern?" biglang tanong ng teacher namin.

"Wala po, Ma'am. I'm sorry po," paumanhin ko at itinuloy na lang ang pagsagot sa exams ko.

Come on, Aldeim. Focus on your exams.

Dahil malapit ako sa may bintana, napatingin ako saglit dun. And then suddenly, may nakita akong itim na ibon na lumilipad palapit sa bintana. Nanlaki na lang ang mga mata ko nang makita kong bumangga yung ibon sa mismong bintana na malapit sa akin. Lumikha yun ng ingay kaya napalingon din ang mga kaklase ko doon. May mga napasigaw pa dahil sa gulat.

Pinanood ko kung paano unti-unting dumausdos pababa yung itim na ibon. But before it completely falls down, its head jerked up and its pitch black eyes stared straight at me. Then, I heard the scariest voice that I have ever heard in my entire life. It sounded unearthly and very dark.

"periculum sit venire..."

My breathing hitched when I heard that at nabitawan ko na lang yung pen na hawak ko.

It spoke an ancient language to me...in my head.

The bird was no longer there but I can still hear the echo of what it said. And the way it spoke to me gave me a very unsettling feeling.

As I was staring at the window, the strange feeling I felt earlier in our bathroom and in the car came back. Mas doble ngayon kesa sa naramdaman ko kanina. Napahawak na lang ako sa ulo ko nang biglang sumakit yun.

"Alou, ayos ka lang ba?" tanong sa akin ni Hailee.

I looked at her and just nodded saka ko siya nginitian.

"That is so unlucky for that bird. Anyways, please concentrate on your exams now, class." biglang paalala ng teacher sa namin kaya madaling naka-recover yung iba at itinuloy ang pagsagot sa exams.
