- CHAPTER TWENTY FIVE -

He made me feel like I wanted to but I knew that the good conscious decision would be to ask him to take me back to the house, where I would be safe from his dangerous influence. The way he looked at me, caved my soul to whatever he wanted and yet we constantly fought or he would just ignore me. He hasn't showed any particular interest in me unless you count his relentless stares. His hand grabbing mine pulled me from my spiralling thoughts as he gestured for me to get off. But if I get off I am practically agreeing to another arson charge. And yet we both stood facing each other.

"I have already spilled some petrol before I woke you so all you have to do is drop the lighter." With that my throat constricts and it's like I can't breathe anymore. I'd dropped his hand before his confession and they lay in fists by my side. He left me so confused.

"I don't think this is a good idea for me." I murmured. I watched his eyes, they were hard and cold but cracked a little and showed something close to understanding and remorse before going back to his usual calculating stoic expression.

"I need you to do it." He whispered close to my ear, his nose brushing against the side of my face as he leaned down. His hand encases mine and pries it open, placing something hard and cold in my hand. His face was so close to mine as he wrapped my fingers around it, his minty breath fanned over my face. I couldn't, I said that I would stop after the accident.

"I can't."

"You already have." Reminding me of the murder and theft that occurred not too long ago. My heart constricts as I think about it. I thrust the lighter at his chest pushing him back at the same time. His face morphed in shock but I didn't wait for a further reaction already walking off in a random direction. I am yanked back into Elijah's chest.

"You don't get it do you?" He looked taken aback. Elijah releasing his grip for me to step back so I can look him in the eyes. He didn't answer only pursing his full red lips.

"You're hurting people." He responded with a smirk at first.

"That's the point Sweetheart. They are bad people." His voice so venomous that I had to take another small step back.

"But it effects the innocent. What about family, children?" I get louder as I speak, trying to get point across clearly.

"Collateral. They are better off." He dismissed." He opened my hand again placing the lighter once again into my grasp. "But if you want to stay with us, you join."

I should have known that they wouldn't have just left me alone. But this small town of Rosedale held very sinister secrets and I think that he is easily the root cause of a lot of this. Or the solution, I'm not sure yet. What I did know was to get far away, but where do you go with no home?

"He was a drug lord who ran aground local business, polluted the town with drugs and killed unmercifully despite standing at the alter on a Sunday morning. He deserved his end." He left me standing at the fences edge as he got back on the bike starting the motor to revel I loud grumble. I was conflicted. So conflicted. I did something I never thought that I would do again. I struck the lighter and a red flame appeared, dancing and waiting in anticipation. It was clear where he had poured the petroleum the gravel and grass stained a different colour. I lightly tossed the lighter from my hand a few feet ahead. It was quick and hungry, looking to devour everything on its path of petrol. The warehouse caught alight so quickly, as I stumbled towards the bike and into Elijah's arms. He pulled the helmet over my head, hastily. I'd barely put my feet on the Harley's pegs before we were ripping up the road. I looked back with my head rested on Elijah's back. It burned in a sea of red, yellow and orange with tendrils of smoke reaching desperately into the sky.

I didn't know the area but I knew that we were taking a different route home. All I wanted was to crawl into my bed and re-evaluate everything that just happened. My mind was blazing like the inferno behind me.

Eventually I noticed the familiar road that leads to our farm and my hands tightened around his waist. Despite what had just occurred, I couldn't help but noticed the toned abs that I could feel through his hoodie. Reminding me of how close we had been that night and the way he brushed his nose on the side of my face while whispering in my ear. My heart was basically palpitating just thinking about it. In a blur we were on the porch steps. Elijah pulling a key from under a pot plant. He was about to open the door before he spun back to me. His eyes were different they held everything, I'd never seen them so unguarded before. Anger, pain, hurt, lust, urgency and something else that I couldn't put my finger on. His arms reached out towards me and snaked around my waist. I gasp loudly as he turns me against the siding of the house. He steps even closer that I could make out the light blue specks in his green eyes. He was searching. Searching for approval. Despite everything I know, I give the smallest of nods but that's all he needed and his lips brush mine. Not innocently but like a tease that was fiery, passionate and demanding. His hand ran up my hip and slithered up my arm coming to rest at the nape of my head. Eventually his right hand clasped at the hair on the back of my head. My hands were already in his hair, tugging lightly at the ends of his hair causing him to let out a growl that I couldn't help but smirk at. Then he pulled away, the both of us left gasping at air we desperately needed. We watched each other for a moment, his hair was disheveled and his lips were puffy. I smiled to myself because I caused that.
