I

Silence.

In the darkness I hear

your footsteps down the riverbend, see

your footprints on the wet soil

beside me.

The water, a shimmering black curtain

of memories, you step in.

The icy water laps your ankles, I feel

shivers

Down my arms.

The wind softly whispers

illicit nothings into my waiting ear but

your laugh drowns those words,

you turn.

You face me, your eyes- sparkling in

the moonlit haze, you beg me-

to come with you, into the river, I

follow.
