Summer holiday went by. Kageyama found out his roommate was Akaashi. He was secretly glad it wasn't Oikawa or Nishinoya. Akaashi was a quiet fellow and a studious one too. He didn't bother Kageyama much and they didn't talk unless absolutely necessary either.

Akaashi had a secret. Everynight, Akaashi would receive a special phonecall from none other than Bokuto. It was a shock but somehow predictable. Kageyama usually knew that Akaashi had asked Bokuto to call when Kageyama was at the bath which was around 8. So Kageyama decided to standardise his bathtime there so that the two lovebirds could chat in peace. Just because his love couldn't work out didn't mean that he could be the third wheel for another's successful relationship. Kageyama felt bad enough for already stealing Akaashi's position as main setter. As for why he knew they were dating, was that because it was kind of obvious. Akaashi was usually a stoic person but Kageyama could see him getting a little more tense everytime 8pm came. Once, he had also walked into Akaashi in the middle of a phonecall with Bokuto. Bokuto literally screamed a "It's lonely without you here." Kageyama was embarrassed to be intruding in such a special moment but Akaashi, though blushing, signalled for him to come in just as he was about to sneak out. Akaashi then complained to Bokuto not to call so often but Kageyama had saw a small smile creep upon his face. It was kind of interesting seeing how people acted differently with the ones they loved.

Kageyama hoped Hinata himself would call even though he knew it was abit too much to ask for considering how Hinata had faithfully messaged him a goodnight and goodmorning every single day he had been here. He would reply but that was all their interaction consisted of. That made him feel kind of depressed. He had never felt such great distance in their relationship. But Kageyama was just too shy to do anything about it.

Well, his love wasn't working out, but at least his other relationships were fine. His relationships with his parents got better day by day. They would skype each other once a week on Sunday. They also had some family chat group on whatsapp and they shared interesting things that happened that day or how their day went. Meanwhile, his relationship with his teammates were fairly good. He was no longer called King of the Court. He gave the tosses the spikers wanted and tried his best to not demand anything from anyone. Oikawa and Nishinoya still liked to tease him. Sometimes, he would just engage in some small talk or volleyball talk with his teammates which he never cared to do before. In his school, he was happy to have made some friends. But he still mostly ate alone, or sometimes with Akaashi, who too, ate alone. They would just talk about setting techniques while they ate, nothing much.

Kageyama's schoolwork got a little better, he was no longer in Karasuno and was somewhere out of his comfort zone. He had to prove to people that he was more than just a sportsperson, he was smart too. He was kind of pressured judging that many on the under 21 team were both good in sports and in studies. His life got on fine. And eveytime spring or autumn came, he would be sure to tune into Karasuno's matches no matter how busy life was.

.........................................……………………...
Back at Karasuno, Hinata had a great time too. Part of him wished it was still in his first year, with Kageyama and the senpais, it felt complete that way. The senpais came back every so often, maybe once a week. The new kouhais that joined were friendly too. Luckily, there was someone who played libero among the kouhais. He also now had one of the kouhais as setter, he was quite good. Kageyama was better though. Hinata missed Kageyama but knew Kageyama was busy, so he resisted the urge to call.

Karasuno did well in the interhigh and spring high, getting third and second respectively. It got harder though, now that the good ones were gone. Fortunately, the juniors just needed that little polishing and they too were good to go. Coach Ukai remained as their coach throughout the two years, with the volleyball association and the senpais coming to help every few days. They still had practice matches with Nekoma and attended the summer camp training with the other Tokyo schools. It was a great two years. The second year, they got third for both interhigh and spring high. Yamaguchi became captain and Tsukishima helped out once in a while. Hinata climbed up and became ace and got into the best 6 players for interhigh in his third year. He was worthy of the title, afterall he upgraded his skills, had superhuman reflexes and trained twice as hard as the others. Yachi found a first year to help out with the manager duties. And all too soon, it was time to let go of the team.

Exams came and everyone had to put in their utmost effort to get into a college of their choice, or go out to work. All the three third years in the volleyball team plus Yachi wanted to go college. Tsukishima and Yachi got into Tokyo National University. Yamaguchi got into S University, which was just as good. And Hinata just picked out M University which was in the perfecture. He was elated when he received the news that he got in. Kageyama had also gotten into the same University. He was homesick and didn't feel like living that far anytime soon.
