"alright, everyone! good work today, remember to practice throughout the week! see you next class," jeongguk's dance teacher clapped her hands as she smiled brightly at her students.

jeongguk walked over to his bag, picking up his water bottle and taking a long drink. wiping his sweaty brow, he also reached in and pulled out his phone. unlocking it quickly, he opened his messages.

to: seokjinnie💞
hey hyung, are you still picking me up from dance class? :)

while he waited for an answer, jeongguk leaned against the wall and took another drink of water. he watched as other students chattered while packing up their things, leaving together or making plans to meet up later.

yeah sure, be there soon. just got out of class

smiling, jeongguk put his phone back away into his bag after typing a 'thank you' as well as his water bottle, and then slung the bag over his shoulder. he grabbed his denim jacket from the hooks by the door before waving goodbye to his teacher and heading downstairs.

there was a coffee shop on the main floor of the building, so jeongguk decided to wait in there for seokjin. walking up to the counter, he ordered himself an iced coffee and stood to the side to wait for his drink.

"hey, jeongguk! long time no see!"

said boy turned his head to see hoseok walking up to him, a blinding smile on his face. yoongi was in tow, eyes glued to his phone as he blindly followed his boyfriend. jeongguk smiled back at the older couple, waving shyly.

"hi, hyungs. how are you?" he said when they finally got close enough.

"oh, we're peachy!" hoseok beamed, giggling. "how are you liking college life?" yoongi walked away to order himself a coffee, and hoseok leaned in closer, as if he was going to tell jeongguk a secret. "how's living with seokjin hyung?" jeongguk didn't miss the playful wink.

"i-uh, it's great. i really like it, i feel a lot more independent." jeongguk decided to disregard hoseok's second question, and just then his name was called out and he was passed his drink.

"that's good, this is really the time that you figure out who you are and what you want from life. take advantage of that, guk. anyway, we've gotta get going. see you around campus?" hoseok smiled softly, his sudden serious tone taking jeongguk by surprise.

dumbly jeongguk nodded, watching as the older couple made their way out of the coffee shop. as he was staring after them, his phone buzzed in his bag.

i'm outside

tightening his grip on his coffee, jeongguk left the coffee shop and into the parking lot. it didn't take him long to spot seokjin's truck, and he happily skipped over and climbed inside. "thanks for coming to get me," he said while leaning over and pressing a kiss to seokjin's cheek.

seokjin smiled lightly at his boyfriend, "it's no problem. where to?"

jeongguk pursed his lips. "home, i guess. i don't have any other classes, and i have some homework i need to do." seokjin nodded, and turned the truck on, smoothly pulling out of the parking lot.

the ride was quiet, and jeongguk felt a little uncomfortable with the silence. he could almost sense something was on seokjin's mind, but he didn't want to press in case it was something the elder didn't want to talk about. so he turned his head to look out the window as they drove out of the campus and into the more residential neighbourhoods around campus.

the more he thought about it, seokjin had been acting a little odd lately. the night before, instead of their usual cuddle session while they watched dramas, seokjin went to bed early and didn't even kiss him goodnight. when jeongguk had crawled into bed a few hours later, he'd been afraid to snuggle up into the elder so he resolved to just lay on his side, facing away from his boyfriend.

this morning, when jeongguk had woken up, seokjin was already gone to his classes. jeongguk knew he didn't have to leave that earlier, as usually he made breakfast for the two of them before he drove them both to campus. but this morning jeongguk had to make a bowl of cereal for himself and walk to his classes.

and then today. jeongguk hadn't thought anything of it at first, but now as he reviewed the day in his mind, seokjin had even been distant in his texts. usually, he would respond to jeongguk with a cute nickname, or a few emojis. but his response had been straightforward, emotionless as if they were mere strangers.

jeongguk had to bite his lip to keep it from trembling as he was unable to stop the thoughts from circling through his head. did i do something wrong? is he angry with me? is he going to leave me?

he blinked away the tears that threatened to spill, shaking his head to clear the intrusive thoughts away. stop thinking like that, he told himself. you know he loves you.

but when they pulled into the parking lot of their apartment building, seokjin wordlessly parked the truck and headed inside, leaving jeongguk to scramble after him. the elevator ride was awkward, to say the least. when it finally dinged on their floor, jeongguk was the first one out.

he collapsed onto the couch, texting with jimin while seokjin moved around the apartment. "hey hyung, what are we having for supper?" he asked casually, looking up at the older.

seokjin stopped in the middle of putting on his jacket as jeongguk locked eyes with him. "oh, um, you can just get takeout, i'll be back late." and without waiting for a reply from the younger, he was out the door.

where are you going? jeongguk wanted to yell after him. why are you being so cold with me? are you cheating on me? am i not good enough anymore?

that night jeongguk fell asleep on seokjin's side of the bed, wearing one of the elders sweatshirts and crying into the pillow.
