Chapter 28: Drunk on You and High on Summertime

"Do you have to leave?" Drew said in his best baby voice. "Yes I do, Trent will kill me." I kissed his cheek. "Let me drive you home." Drew offered. "Sure." I agreed. Drew spun the keys around his index finger. "I'll meet you out there, I'm just gonna grab my sweatshirt." He said turning around.

I walked out the front door humming a song I made up as I went along. Man, his truck was beauty. I pulled the tailgate down, hopping on it. I kept humming keeping myself busy for the mean while. My legs swung by the license plate. I laid my back flat on the tailgate gazing at the stars. I easily spotted the Big Dipper. My humming faded away as I closed my eyes. The crickets and the frogs sang to me.

It was dark outside, and it was about seventy degrees. It was comfortable weather. I could feel summer coming. "Boo!" A familiar voice shouted. "Eek!" I shreaked. Drew fell on his butt laughing. He held his stomach in pain. "Ha ha, very funny." I sarcastically rolled my eyes. "Very funny." Drew sighed. "Are we going to go?" I snapped. "Whenever you're ready." Drew stood up, dusting his pants. I swung my legs off the tailgate. I flipped my long hair over my shoulder as I walked to the passenger seat. I felt the tailgate slam shut behind me.

"Do you mind?" Drew asked nodding towards the radio. "Go ahead." I nodded.

"Girl you make my speakers go boom boom.

Dancing on the tailgate in the full moon.

That kind of thing makes a man go mhm.

You're looking so good in what's left of those blue jeans.

Drip a honey on the money, make her gotta' be.

The best buzz I'm ever gonna' find.

Hey I'm a little drunk on you, and high on summertime." The radio sang.

My face lighted up. "Drew, this is my song." I smiled. He smiled back, God that smile. You should've seen it. "Come here, I wanna dance." I turned the volume up high. I opened all of the doors letting the speakers blast. "Don't you want to go home?" Drew said talking over the song. "No! I love this song." Before he could say another word I took his hand. Drew spun me around in the headlights.

"You're crazy." Drew spoke. "A good kind of crazy?" I asked. "Yeah, I like crazy." He kissed my forehead. As soon as his lips touched my skin I was falling in love. I laid my face on his shoulder, facing his neck. I could smell him, but it was a good smell. Drew moved his hands from my hips around my back, knowing that it drives me insane. I kissed him on his neck below his ear. His body felt warm. You should've seen the smile on my face when I heard him begin to mumble the words. "Man your little kiss is driving me wild, throwing little cherry bombs into my fire." Drew softly sang. So cute, so cute, so cute.

It was a Friday night, dancing out under the stars.
