Last Words

 

 

 

"Anong gusto mo? Bakit mo ba ginagawa ito?" his voice was soft. Lumambot ang mukha ni Colleen.

 

 

"I love you Xander.." she whispered. Nahigit ko ang hininga ko. Tumayo na si Xander at dahan dahang lumapit.

"I know. I know that. Now let them go. Sasama na ako sayo." He gave his hand to her. Tiningnan niya ito.

"Xander..d-don't! Ugh!" I screamed when the guy holding me smacked my head. My vision started blurring. Xander looked at me and smiled.

 

 

"Colleen, let's run away. Tayong dalawa. Diba ito yung gusto mo? You and I?  Let them go now." His voice was soothing. Dahan dahan niyang inaabot ang kamay nito at pasimpleng kinukuha na ang baril.

My mouth dried. Anong ginagawa mo Xander?

"COLLEEN?!" the guy behind me shouted. I took that opportunity at mariin na kinagat ang kamay nito. Nabitawan niya ang baril at mabilis ko siyang tinutukan. Colleen was shocked with what happened at hinila ni Xander si Sabina. Kinuha na rin nito ang baril na hawak niya.

The guy ran to me at akmang aagawin ang baril when police sirens were heared everywhere. Xander shot his leg at napaupo ito. Colleen stood frozen.

"Akala ko ba sasama ka na sa akin?" her voice was a whisper. Naglakad siya patalikod. Xander took me and Sabina and put us behind his back. Tumakbo ang mga magulang namin at hinila kami.

"Go." He whispered. I shook my head.

"I'm not going to leave you--"

"Damn it Savannah! Umalis ka na!!" he shouted. Dad and Mom took Sabina to the nearest car at isinakay na ito dahil nawawalan na ito ng dugo. They opened the car door for me at tinatawag na ako.

 

"Xander.."

Hindi ko na natapos ang sasabihin ko when the engine of the van came to life at humarurot papunta sa direction naming dalawa ni Xander. I stood frozen on my spot. Hindi ako makagalaw. The noises from earlier went still. The whole place became quiet. Bahagya ko na lamang naramdaman ang pagtulak ni Xander sa akin at ang pagtama ko sa semento.

 

"X-xander.." I stood. I saw him. Mabilis ang pangyayari. The red van hitting his body. Gumulong ang katawan niya at tumalsik mula sa pagkakabangga. His body lying limply on the cement. The people rushing into him. Hannah. Andrei. Daddy. Mommy. Lahat sila umiiyak habang tinatakbo si Xander.

"X-xander.." dahan dahan akong gumapang papunta sa direksyon niya. Every step that I make, unti unti kong nararamdaman kung ano ang nawala sa akin. The fear. The pain. The grudge. The truth. It slowly crept inside of me like a fire, slowly consuming my whole being.

"X-xander.." ang dahan dahan kong lakad ay naging takbo na. My heart is pounding. No. This can't be happening! Not on our wedding day! Hindi pwede ito!

If I will be given a time machine, I will always go back to the time when I first met you. Not because I want to change anything but because I want to experience how to fall inlove with you all over again.
