College graduation. Sawamura Daichi, and Sugawara Koushi were both graduating from Tokyo University. They had been very close in middle school, and even closer in high school, and in college they had even been roommates. But now they would be going their separate ways, even though neither wanted to.

They had both grown so used to having the other by their side, and they weren't sure how they'd handle being apart.

They had never dated. Not officially. Neither had confessed to the other, and neither really wanted to, for fear of ruining what they had. But they were comfortable together, and they both got anxious when they were apart for too long.

About a week before, Daichi had made a decision. Perhaps it was a foolish decision. But he felt he had nothing to lose that he wasn't already going to. He sat in the uncomfortable plastic chair as the graduation ceremony dragged on.

He fiddled nervously with his clothes, and his fingers. He focused on Suga, who was only a few seats away, but it felt like an insurmountable distance. He focused on the weight in his pocket. He had thought he would be more nervous, but these things actually calmed him.

When the ceremony was over, Suga ran up to Daichi and gave him an excited hug. "We graduated Daichi!" Suga pulled back with a grin, his hands resting on Daichi's shoulders. "We have our degrees, and now we don't have to go to lectures, or buy books, or do homework! Isn't it great‽"

"Definitely!" Daichi returned Suga's smile with equal enthusiasm. His own hands were resting on Suga's waist, but neither of them seemed to notice. "There's just one problem though," Suga tilted his head questioningly, "now that we've graduated, we're no longer roommates, and I don't have any excuse to be around you all the time, so I'll have to come up with a new one."

"Wh—What‽" Suga pulled his hands off his friend's shoulders in surprise, and Daichi released his waist to pull something out of his pocket. A few people had stopped, looking curiously at the pair.

"How about this," Daichi revealed the item. It was a ring, a plain silver band inlaid with a diamond, "Marry me, Koushi? That way I'll always have an excuse to be around you."

Suga's hands grabbed the sides of his face, and his expression was one of utter shock. He tried to say something, but he couldn't. He stumbled backwards a bit, and Daichi couldn't repress his huge grin at the reaction.

He reached for Suga's left hand, gently prying it away, as he looked his silver-haired friend in the eye. "Well?" Still unable to say anything, Suga finally managed a nod. The small crowd that had formed, made up of mostly their classmates, let out a cheer. They heard a couple shouts of "About freaking time!" and at least one loud wolf-whistle, followed by laughter.

A bright red blush crept onto Suga's face, and Daichi slipped the ring onto his finger, laughing slightly. Suga buried his face in the crook of his friend's—well, fiancé's neck, now, he supposed.

"I love you Daichi," Suga mumbled, pressed up against Daichi, hands on his chest, and head on his shoulder. He'd wanted to say that for so long.

"I love you too Suga." The words felt as natural as breathing. Daichi smiled bigger than he ever had in his life as he held his fiancé close to him.

[A few months later]

"I'm nervous," Suga stated bluntly to Yamaguchi as the younger man brushed off his white tux with a lint roller.

"Yeah well, " Yama said unhelpfully, "what're you gonna do. Jitters are part of the ceremony. You think I wasn't nervous when Tsukki and I got married? And we'd been dating for almost eight years. How long were you dating Daichi before he proposed?"

Suga's face flushed in embarrassment. "We... we weren't. We never had."

"What‽" Yamaguchi stopped tying Suga's bow tie in surprise. "No one told me that. I kinda assumed you guys dated during college." Suga shook his head, blush darkening. "Huh. You know to be honest, I kinda thought you two were dating back in high school until Asahi insisted otherwise."

"R—really?" Suga stammered. "Way... way back then?"

"Yamaguchi!" Hinata called as he and Nishinoya ran towards them. "Can you tie ours too! We don't know how!"

Suga looked down at them. Noya had tied his in a regular bow, and Hinata's was in some sort of tangled wad. Seeing this, Suga almost laughed out loud. It made him a little less nervous. When the engagement was announced, the two of them had insisted on being bridesmaids, and he couldn't say no.

Once ties were tied and hair was styled, they all stood, ready, waiting for the music to begin. When it did, Suga hummed along impatiently, waiting for his turn. Then he started walking down the aisle, a bouquet of white and crimson roses in his hands.

When he saw Daichi, he couldn't help but smile. It was a struggle for him to maintain his slow, steady pace. He just wanted to run up to the alter like an excited little kid, but he didn't. He took deep shaky breaths as he tried not to tear up.

After what felt like a million years, he finally made it to the alter to stand next to Daichi. He felt his beloved's arm brush against his, and all of his jitters melted away. This was Daichi. There was no need to worry.

"We are gathered here today to celebrate the union of Sawamura Daichi, and Sugawara Koushi," the minister began...

[I don't know how weddings work in Japan, and I've probably gotten enough wrong already, so I'm just gonna skip to the "I do"s.]

"I do," Suga said, without any doubts.

"I do," Daichi said, without any hesitation.

"Then, by the power vested in me, I pronounce you husbands," the minister finished, smiling at them. "You may now kiss."

For some reason, that surprised them. They knew it was coming, but they hadn't really kissed before. Even after they got engaged, not much changed. They didn't become all lovey-dovey with each other, no more than usual, anyway. After a moment, though, Daichi leaned down slightly and pressed his lips to Suga's. They both felt like their bodies were being filled with warmth, and when they pulled away they were both grinning.

When the reception ended, the two got into a taxi and started on their honeymoon trip. They were both filled to the brim with happiness, but Suga's mind kept turning something over and over, and it was eating at him.

He still wasn't really used to the idea of Daichi and him being romantic partners. Don't get him wrong, he loved it, he had been in love with Daichi for a very long time, but it was so surreal. Even though he knew they were married now, he still felt as if he was just a boy with a crush on his best-friend that he couldn't do anything about.

"Koushi, what's wrong?" Daichi asked his new husband. Suga realized that his smile had fallen as he lost himself in his thoughts.

"Can... can I..." Suga steeled his nerves. "Can I kiss... you?" Daichi couldn't help but laugh.

"We're married now Koushi, of course you can kiss me." Suga blushed deeply, it seemed obvious when he said it like that. "You can kiss me whenever you want."

And so Suga did. He placed his lips over Daichi's, and the other man stopped laughing. It was a passionate kiss, and it filled them both with warmth, and comfort, and joy, and a hundred other wonderful feelings, and it was a long time before they finally pulled apart.

"You know Koushi," Daichi said, his breath slightly heavy, and his tone suggestive, "we can do a lot more than kiss."

Suga gasped, and blushed down to his elbows, burying his face in his hands. Then he swatted Daichi when he laughed. Daichi couldn't stop though, he continued laughing, rubbing the sore spot on his arm where Suga had hit him. You couldn't really blame him though, even the taxi driver chuckled.
