You will need this info for the next chapter: Let me explain Japan. There are 5 major islands: Hokkaido, Honshu, Kyushu, Okinawa, and Shikoku. It is also divided into 9 regions. Within these 9 regions there are 47 provinces, states, or prefectures as they're commonly referred to.
Many prefectures have the same name as their Capitol. The same is with Ōsaka. The Prefecture or state is Ōsaka-fu. The Capitol is Ōsaka-shi. Notice the suffixes? That's how we tell the difference.
