Chapter 6 - Devil

Akala ko sinabi lang ni Eris 'yun para mang inis dahil mukha naman hobby niyang manginis ng tao at nakakakuha siya ng satisfaction galing doon so I really didn't expect him to be outside our unit and waiting for me.

"Ano gusto mong pagusapan? One of your sarcastic remarks?" Bungad ko.

"You can put down your things first." Sabi niya.

"No. We talk right here."

Umayos siya ng tayo and he towered over me but I stood my ground. I just realized that we don't really have much space between us in this small hallway.

Dalawang unit lang ang nandito at ang iba ay nasa kabilang dulo pa kaya kampante ako na walang makakarinig sa amin.

"Okay." Then he inhaled deeply. "Gusto kong magsorry sayo."

"Come again? Nagsosorry ka?" I make it sound like I'm surprised but a part of me is really surprised.

"Don't sound so surprised. Marunong akong magsorry. I'm actually more surprised that you're willing to talk and that you're with Jack."

Confused, I crunched my eyebrows. Who's Jack-- then I almost laugh as I realized something.

"You do know that his name is Jake, right?" I said.

"Who? Jack?" He questioned.

I clamped my mouth to stop my laugh from coming out. Jake would be furious if he's here right now. But that's not the point. Bakit napunta kay Jake ang usapan?

"Hindi siya 'yung point okay?"

He nodded. "Okay. Well. And Cole asked me to apologize. So.." He trailed.

Wait. What.

Nawala ang ngiti ko at bigla akong nainis ulit. "Nagsosorry ka kasi sinabi ni Cole?"

Ano pang point ng sorry kung hindi naman siya sincere at ginawa lang niya dahil sinabi ni Cole. Wow hindi ko 'yun inexpect.

"Yes he did ask me but that's not why."

"Eh ano pala? Gusto mo lang magsorry because you felt bad? Narealize mo na mali ang ginawa mo and you might have hurt my feelings? Is that it? Sinong niloko mo? We both know you don't mean that."

At biglang pumasok sa isip ko na dapat pala nakinig ako sa kanya at nilapag ko muna ang bag at librong hawak ko because at this point I want to smash it in his face.

"Did you always have to assume things before they were explained?" He snapped.

"Fine. Let's hear it." Sabi ko.

"I said Cole asked me but I didn't do it just because he did. If that's the case, I might have already done many stupid things."

And I cut him off again. "You think this is stupid? Stupid ang magsorry sa akin? Of course it is!"

He took a step forward invading my personal space and his gaze bore into me. "Hindi ka kasi nakikinig. You always assume things. You assumed the worse before it was said."

Hindi ako sumagot. Because every cell in my body is aware of his closeness and my mind went to the night we kissed.

"I did it because I want to. Aaminin ko naging gago ako sayo but it's not entirely my fault dahil masungit ka rin sa akin. So for the sake of Cole and your roommates let's just.. be civil."

I poke his shoulder and pushed hard. "First, no invading of my personal space. Second, don't call me Mor. It's Maureen for you. Third, well sasabihin ko sana na stop being a jerk pero naisip ko na imposible so whatever."

He took a step back and his head tilt slightly like he's thinking then slowly his mouth curved upwards.

I bit my inner cheek at the realization that I'm staring at his mouth. I need to stop looking at his mouth for my sake.

"Agreed." He said after a moment.

I nodded. End of conversation. Mabilis naman pala siyang mausap pero bago pa ako makapasok sa room ay napalingon ako sa huli niyang sinabi.

"Agreed. Especially the second, Mor." Then he was out of my sight.

Did I just get tricked by him?

Ang nakakainis lang ay nakaisa siya sa akin. Od course he wouldn't agree to that because he like that I'm not comfortable with him calling me that.

I know it's just a nickname and all pero hindi talaga ako kumportable pag ibang tao ang tumatawag sa akin ng Mor.

Pero since okay na kami ayaw ko nang magsimula pa ng isa pang away mostly dahil ayaw kong ako naman ang magsosorry sa kanya.

That night we all have dinner together. Nagorder kami ng pizza and chicken and we cramped at their room. Mas malaki ang room nila compared sa amin maybe because there's only the two of them and three of us and somehow we also have more things.

Eris offered me a slice before I could get one. Gulat nila akong tinignan nung tinanggap ko without rolling my eyes but believe me it took an effort.

"So I see you settled your indifferences."

Trust Ate Rox to say that.

"Sort of." I said but glared at Eris. Hindi ko pa rin makalimutan na naisahan niya ako.

He just shrugged and enjoyed his slice of pizza.

"Yes! Sama ka na sa Friday sa amin." Kinalabit siya ni Mika. "Paparty kami!"

I shot her a look. Wala sa usapan na yayayain namin sila. Ang usapan namin kaming tatlo lang dahil minsan lang kami mag get together.

Pero hindi nila ako pinansin at niyaya silang dalawa. Cole I'm okay but Eris? God! The last I had alcohol in my system I kissed him out of rage of seeing my ex.

"Game kami dyan sympre." Cole chided.

Napapikit nalang ako. Kung hindi ko mahal 'tong roommates ko hindi na ako sasama.

"Mukhang ayaw ni Mor, e." Napadilat ako sa boses ni Eris.

"A chance to party with you? Sinong makakatanggi." I said in the most sarcastic way I could.

"I thought so. Considering the last time we went to the bar together." He teased.

I grit my teeth and shot him a glare. Tuloy mo lang sige.

"Nagbar kayo together? Kailan?"

"Wait, anong sabi mo? Seryoso ba 'yan?"

They bombarded us with questions and good thing he didn't say another word after that. He really enjoys taunting me.

He smirked as if that was an inside joke between us.

Therefore I conclude, Eris is a devil in disguise.
