it is my birthday today. i am finally 18. but my parents are on a vacation in hawaii. the only person who actually cares about me, besides my parents, is my boyfriend of 2 years, shawn.
he is my everything. he makes me happy. i don't know how my life would be if he wasn't in it.
shawn hasn't communicated with me since yesterday morning. i thought he was going to be the first one to say happy birthday to me.
time: 9:49am
i sat up on my bed, since i just woke up, and scrolled through instagram. i suddenly got a text from shawn.
shawn😍💕: good morning princess❤
me: morning💕
me: do you remember what day it is today?
shawn😍💕: you thought i forgot it's your birthday today?
me: no . . . just making sure 😂
me: whats the plan for today?
shawn😍💕: i'm going to come over at 12
me: then?
shawn😍💕: the rest is surprise but i can tell you that we are going out on an adventure
me: okay! i love you❤
shawn😍💕: i love you too❤
i get out of bed and pick out my outfit for the day and evening.
• 2 hours later •
i put on some makeup after i take a shower and put on the outfit i chose earlier.

time: 11:43am
shawn would be here any minute. i go dowstairs. my phone goes off.
shawn😍💕: i'm here.
me: i'll come outside.
i go out and lock the door behind me. as i turn around, i see shawn leaning against his black truck, waiting for me. as soon as he sees me, he jogs towards me and picks me up and spins around.
"happy birthday, sweetie!"
"thank you." he puts me down. i hug him.
"so where are we going?"
"you will see."
• 6 hours later •
shawn planned a perfect birthday for me. we went to a restaurant for brunch. then we went on a long drive, stopping at every beautiful destinations on our way and have small photoshoots.
our final stop was at the top of a mountain. it was getting dark and there was a sunset.
"come to the back. i have something set up for us." we both get out of the truck and go to the back. shawn takes the cover off the truck's trunk, revealing a soft mattress covered by a blanket and 2 pillows:

we climb inside the trunk and get comfy in the blankets. shawn wraps his arm around my waist and i rest my head on his chest. we look at the sunset.

everything is perfect.
"i have a present for you." shawn pulls away from me and grabs something from behind his pillow. "here" he hands me a big box covered with light blue gift wrapper.
i carefully open the wrapper which reveals a small teddy bear and chocolates. you might think that its cliche but i don't mind recieving presents like these.
"thank you, shawn. i literally don't have any words to express how grateful i am feeling right now."
"no need to say thank you. it's my responsibility to keep my girl happy." i smile as he plants a kiss on top of my head. "hey i have another surprise for you." he pulls out his guitar from the truck.
he starts strumming his guitar and sings my favourite song of his. strings. (play video above and imagine the scenerio)
