Heartless Rhymes

He looked back into the sunrise,
All he saw was pain and sorrow;
Like a font, tears filled his eyes
At the prospect of tomorrow.

Until then with and now without,
His heart had never come to rest;
His consciousness began to shout
While his mind was put to test.

He looked o'er the gaping cliff,
Trusted in unseen wind;
Surrendered a foot, head filled with if's,
Meanwhile his mind said to rescind.

There he remains, beleaguered still,
In the glassy frozen time;
Without a heart, without a will,
He mutters his heartless rhymes.
