Roses and Thorns

If you have to choose
Between a bed of roses
And a bed of tulips,
You should pick the latter
Because roses have thorns underneath them
And you will not fall asleep
If you are being scratched by thorns.

If I had to choose
Between a bed of roses
And a bed of tulips,
I would pick the roses
Because I am so tired
That I will fall asleep no matter what
And then you can have the bed of tulips.

If we had to choose
Between a bed of roses
And a bed of tulips,
We would lay between them
Because we can sleep next to each other
And even though we will not have beds,
We will sleep better that way.
