Chapter 16: Mirror*

Start from the beginning

"Do you wonder what happened that night?" Calem asked as I was about to go take a shower. I looked at him blankly staring at the screen "that memory girl... she knew" he narrowed his eyes. I slowly turned towards him "wonder how much she knows"

"Come again?" He looked at me normally

"She knew, yet she doesn't want part of the investigation? Sounds a bit off... doesn't it?" He looked back at the screen "I mean..." he laid on his pillow "she wants to avoid it, so what does she want with the girl that came out the alley? How does it benefit her in any way?" I held my chin to think. That's a good question. What does the memory girl want from me if she doesn't want any part of the investigation? "oh!" He brought back my attention "that night you left! Did you hear any of it when it first happened?" I lowered my arm and leaned on the side of the door

"I have nothing to do with it" from what memory girl said; that I was protected... things just don't add up at all. Thinking about this was giving me a headache "I don't want to talk about this" he nodded and leaned back on his pillow "but one question I do want to ask, how did you know I snuck out?" He closed his eyes

"I was already awake and grabbing something from the kitchen, that's when I saw you sneaking out" funny, I looked at my surroundings perfectly before taking the chance for escape. How did I miss him? "I was looking for you, wanting to make sure you'll come back unharmed..." he looked over at my ankle that's hardly healing like my elbow "guess I failed" I rolled my eyes and turned back to the restroom "I'm sorry..."

"I don't want to repeat myself..."

"I know, you're not any of my concern, but I..." I peaked back at him sitting on the edge of the bed, looking down "I can't help but..." he gave me those eyes, as if he was suffering in a way

"Calem..?" I walked to stand in front of him "is there something you want to tell me..?" He looked down more, holding his head

"I-I..." I shook my head, deciding not to push anything and I left to the restroom without saying another word

"I wish I knew what was going on..." I said when getting out the steamy shower with only a towel. So many questions are going through my head "I can't even begin to start the first row of the list in my head" I flinched when feeling something rubbing on my ankle. I slowly looked down to see Eve sitting near my foot, holding my head towel on its back. I screamed and fell off balance unexpectedly, hitting the side of my arm on the edge of the sink "ow!" The restroom was so white that I didn't even notice the little thing was in here

"Sophia?!" I flinched, seeing the door fly open. Calem stared down at my half naked wide eyed, frozen in place. I tightened my grip on my towel, glaring hard. This can't be happening... not only is he staring at me up and down, but Eevee had my head towel I was going to use to cover my head!

"W-why are you still in here!? G-get out!!" I screamed. He unexpectedly kneeled to his knees, reaching his shaky hands towards my face. My eyes widened a little surprise as he did this. He was staring only at my face and hair, not even caring that I was on the floor with only one thing on

"S-Sophie..?" I felt his shaky fingers touch my cheeks. I flinched and looked down, wishing he didn't have to see me this way. He knows now... but then again. He saw me like this before in the forest, right? With my hair down..? Has he known this whole time? No, with the way he's looking at me, he seems surprised

"Are you surprised..?" I gulped. He continued staring at me until reality hit him. His entire face turned red, moving him back on his feet and shut his eyes tight, offering his hand to help. I looked at his hand, accidentally moving too quick that I grabbed his shirt, suddenly touching something that felt like a necklace. Something felt like it stabbed through my chest... as if someone grabbed a knife and went straight for the source of my life
