Lani

"This is it," I mumbled holding Alex's hand. "Laylay were gonna be leaving soon." My mom said sitting down. "No matter what, you're still my shorty." Alex looked at me as I smiled weakly.

"Can y'all stop being so sad? Talk about your marriage or your wedding, something along those lines." Niah said putting her attention back on Scarlett.

"Right! Let's talk about that." Alex pushed her hair back scooting over to me.

"We're gonna finish high school and we're gonna do this the right way. An actual wedding this time with flowers, something romantic. We'll get our own house out in somewhere nice."

I smiled nodding my head, reaching out for her hands.

"Then we'll have a baby and buy him or her whatever they want. When we're old we'll sit down and talk about all the things we did when we were young. It'll be perfect."

I wanted to cry but Alex was holding herself together so I have no choice but to put on my game face.

"Lani lets go."

"Alex." I cried getting up still holding her hands. "It's okay, Princess." Alex hugged me tightly as I wrapped my arms around her.

"I love you." I cried into her chest gripping onto the back of her shirt.

"Laylay I said let's go!"

"Wait!" I cried wiping my face repeatedly."Alex, bro let's go." Niah sighed getting up from her seat.

"Chill out," Alex said holding in her tears. "Imma hold it down for you." Alex kissed my forehead and her tears fell on me. I couldn't help but cry as everyone tried to separate us.

"I love you." I sobbed watching Alex get dragged away from me.

I gasped grabbing my bags following behind my mom. She intertwined her arm with mine but I yanked away. I just want to scream at her for putting me through this.

"Sweetheart it's gonna be okay."

I ignored her putting my bags in the top department. I'm now leaving my girlfriend because my mom is so damn attached to me.

"Can I get you two anything?" The flight attendant asked but I mean mugged her. "Yeah a mother who doesn't try to control me," I said under my breath sinking into my seat.

"Some water would be nice." My mother motioned her off with a kind gesture but it's all an act. I mean don't everybody parents act a certain way around people.

"I'm not trying to control you, I'm trying to make your life better."

"Make my life better? You took me away from the only person who made me happy. You're selfish, end of story!"I yelled crossing my arms.

"Lani, that girl looks just like Alex." She pointed to a girl sitting three seats ahead of us on the other side of the plan.

"Her hair is brown and Alex has black hair so please try again." I rolled my eyes looking out the window

"What about her?"

Great, she wants to pair me with someone else.

"Alex gets her eyebrows done, just stop trying to pair me up with someone."

"You're so picky."

"Yep," I said plainly putting my glasses on. If it's not Alex I don't want her, If they don't sound like Alex then I don't want her if it doesn't involve Alex I don't want her.

My life isn't even my life.

Alex

"She's gone. She's really gone." I laid on my stomach resting my head on a pillow."It's alright." Niah patted my back walking into the kitchen.

"Yeah, you'll be fine y'all making this goodbye seem like the end of the world," Scarlett said

I gave Scarlett the finger sighing deeply. "I've never been that serious with someone before I'm telling you this shit hurts." I rolled over on my back putting a hand on my heart.

They just took Lani from me and it hurts to see her cry like that. I don't know how I feel right now but all I know is that my baby is gone.

Even if I call Lani it's still not the same, no female could ever take her spot in my heart. "Aye man, I'm about to be out," Niah said dapping me and Scarlett.

"Shits crazy man." Scarlett inhaled deeply copying the same position as me.

"What's wrong witchu?"

"Niah is so damn confusing." Scarlett groaned tossing her phone over to me.

"Does Niah like you or not?" I scrolled through their conversation looking at all the soft shit Niah sends her.

"I have no idea all I know is that she's sending mixed-signal and I'm gonna punch her if she doesn't get it together."

I chuckled at the thought of them fighting. They both can throw hands so there's no telling who's gonna do something crazy.

"I miss Lani." I closed my eyes letting memories float in my head.

"I'm listening."

"The first day of school I had a different feeling with Lani like she had to be mine. Then we had our first tutor session and she was so cute with her glasses. She was just so perfect and I hated myself for picking on her while she had problems at home."

I blushed just thinking about how aggravated Lani was when we would spend the entire day with each other.

"Then we became something y' know, I was happy for the first time in a long time. I wouldn't give her up for anything in the world."

"She turned you all soft and gushy while you turned her into some hard ass rock." Scarlett joked stretching out on the other couch.

We laughed letting the room get quiet. I could talk about Lani for days and never get tired of it because I'll never get tired of her.

"You can sleep here if you want," I mumbled scratching the back of my head.

Even if Lani did find someone else I wouldn't be mad because I had my time with her and that's the best thing I could ask for.

It's gonna be Lani Fernandez at some point and we'll get married the correct way, instead of a school cafeteria with people I barely know.

I looked over at Scarlett but she was sound asleep. I got up off the couch and went to my room stripping out of clothes. Everything here reminds me of Lani.

I waited patiently for Lani to pick up my call, maybe she's still on the plane. "Go to bed Alex," I told myself crawling into bed putting my head on her pillow. I miss Lani already.
