Alex

"You got this." I inhaled deeply ringing Lanis' doorbell only to see a much older version of her.

"Can I help you?" Her mom gave me a stank face looking me up and down. "I'm Alex, nice meeting you but I'm not here for you." I came in taking my shoes off.

"If you hurt my daughter one more time, I swear to god you'll never see light again but good luck." She smiled disappearing into the kitchen.

I knocked on Lani's door then wiped my sweaty hands on my jeans. I got her a few gifts and a couple of pictures of us since she just moved in and probably has no decorations.

"Come in." Lani scolded opening the door for me. "I know I'm the last person you want to see." I started off putting the bags down on her dresser.

"You got that right."

"I want to be with you, I'm sorry for messing with Deja then lying about it. I don't like Deja the way I like you, you're smart and kind and Deja isn't any of those things. I want you back, Lani." I held both her hands staring deep into her eyes.

"I want to believe that." Lani snatched her hands away from me. "What do you want me to do?! What do I have to do so I can get back with you!?" I paced around her room moving my hair out my face.

"Stop lying to me! Stop talking to other girls! That's what I want you to do! I want you to buy me flowers and tell me how much I mean to you. You know I hate Deja but you continue to mess with her." Lani cried looking away from me as tears fell from her cheeks.

"If that's what you want then I'll do it, I just want you back." I wiped her tears with my thumbs pulling her into a bear hug.

"Please, be gentle with me," Lani said into the crook of my neck.

"I got you a couple of things." I grabbed the bags, sitting down pulling her into my lap.

"Awe thank you." She sniffled gazing at the pictures of us that were neatly placed in a frame.

Her eyes lit up looking at the medium-sized bear holding a heart that read "I love you." "Thank you, Alex. I really do appreciate this."

She moved out my lap and onto her side of the bed leaving space for me.

I'm not gonna say 'I love you'  right away because that's to fast and we just made up. I plan on gaining all her trust back so she can see that I'm all about her.

"When I picked Deja over you, I automatically knew I was wrong. I was under pressure and never thought you'd make me choose." I said holding her from behind.

"I just needed closure." Lani laid her head on my chest. I felt at rest, my life was regathering itself. "I missed you, princess." There was a weight lifted off my shoulders now that I'm around Lani.

"I missed you too, baby."

It may not seem like it but she brings out another version of me, I don't have to act differently when I'm around her.

"What did Deja do to you? If you don't mind me asking." I don't like to pry but I'm curious about why Lani despises Deja.

"When I was younger my older cousin had touched me, I told Deja because I knew my parents wouldn't believe me. Deja told my parents that I forced myself against my cousin and made him do all these things to me." Lani squeezed my hand tightly

"My parents believed her and they treated me like I was some whore and turned against me, it was a mission to give me away but they found out Deja was lying and gave me a weak-ass apology."

Lani rolled over facing me, "I'm sorry that happened to you." I mumbled putting her leg on mine. "It's not your fault, your family can be your biggest enemy and you wouldn't even know."

She remains strong after all that's happened to her, I don't know how but I'm happy she can put that behind her.

"I'm gonna give you the world." I grinned stroking her cheek. I'll be there for her every step she takes, I want her to be happy in life.

{Lani POV}

"Are you hungry?" I sat up at the end of the bed rubbing my eyes. "Yeah." Alex yawned following me into the kitchen.

"Ma, what you got for me?" I asked opening the fridge. I sat down at the table as my mom put a bowl in front of Alex and me

"Thank you," I said lowly while Alex stopped me from grabbing my laptop. "Laylay, give it a break. All-day you've been on that thing." My mom said while sitting my drink in front of me.

"Yeah, relax Laylay." Alex laughed eating her food. "Ma tell her to stop." I pouted crossing my arms.

"Enjoy." My mom kissed both our cheeks before grabbing her bag and leaving.

"Laylay."

"Yes, Alexandria?" I chuckled as she looked at me with a straight face. "Sleepover tonight." I sipped my juice moving the ice around with my straw. "Say no more." Alex pulled my chair closer to her.

I got up putting our plates in the dishwasher, Alex picked me up bridal style carrying me to my room.

"You go take a shower and I'll put your clothes in the washer," I said pulling her shirt over her head. "Ight." Alex unbuttoned her pants sliding them down and passed them to me.

I kissed her cheek before going downstairs tossing her clothes in the washer.

"Cut it out." I chuckled as Alex kissed my neck, she's been trying to get my attention and it's so cute. I put my paper on hold for the entire day but I guess waiting a little longer won't hurt.

I closed my laptop setting it aside. "Now what?" I grinned as Alex shrugged. "I just need you to take a break for 5 minutes."

"5 minutes and that's all you're getting," I said folding my hands in my lap, I don't mind taking a little break but I still have to do my work.

"Let's get ice cream or something."

"It's 10 pm and you want ice cream? I like where your mind is at." I cheered getting out of bed, Alex laughed following behind.

I tossed her my car keys and made my way out the door. "You treat me so good." I leaned over kissing Alex's cheek. "That's my job."

I may or may not be head over heels for Alex but let's keep that on the down-low.
