Lani's POV

"Get your ass up." The voice of my father ringed through my ears erasing the smile off my face. "Welp," I mumbled before getting up and heading to the bathroom.

I'm starting to enjoy learning stuff about Alex. She's not as bad as you think she is, she has the whole attitude and stuff but once you get past the surface she's really nice.

I like how she gets an attitude when she needs it. It's been two weeks and we just flirt with each other, when we're alone it's a different story.

"You have a guest waiting for you." My dad said before taking a swig of his alcohol. "Send them up." I closed my eyes for a brief second feeling the water hit my body.

I turned the water off and grabbed my towel. "Good morning." Alex held my waist and kissed me. I always smile when she's around I don't know why I can't help it. "Jeez." She said looking at all the holes in my wall.

"Close your eyes." Alex covered her eyes while I dropped my towel looking for my clothes. We've seen each other naked but I'm not comfortable with letting her see my bruises.

"I'm opening my eyes."

"Don't you dare." I rummaged through my drawer and tried to pick up my towel with my free hand.

"Man stop hiding them booboos from me." Alex huffed as I stood in front of her. "I'm sorry for hurting you." She kissed my wounds and stared at me.

"No more hiding, you're beautiful no matter what." She kissed me letting her hand wrap around my neck, Alex laid me down and stood between my legs.

I'm weak in the knees for Alex but she doesn't know that. I moaned in her mouth as she fingered me, I moved her hand and broke from our kiss. I shook my head and got up slipping my boxers on. "My bad."

I got dressed and dragged Alex to the bus stop. We held hands until the rest of her friends came. It broke my heart a little bit because she's already acting like she doesn't know me.

I locked our hands together feeling her pull away from me.

"Don't touch me, we not cool like that." Alex scoffed pushing me by my shoulder."Cool it." Niah put her hand on Alex's shoulder lightly pulling her away from me.

She'll apologize to me sooner or later, I'm not her girlfriend so I'm not really worried.

Alex wants me to sleepover this weekend but I don't know. We're still shy around each other and won't make a move until one of us do.

Alex's POV

I'm making her scared, now she'll be scared to be with me. What am I doing? The whole point is to keep us on the down-low but now I'm just scaring her.

"Princess," I mumbled looking at her and Niah.

Me: Princess I'm sorry.
Princess☺️: Mhm. It's not the first time you treated me like that.
Me: I'm sorry it's just that no one knows that you and I talk. I just don't know how to tell them.
Princess☺️: You're lucky I'm nice so I forgive you
Me: Thank you

Shorty gonna have the nastiest attitude ever. I'm just trying to make her a whole different person.

I wrapped my arm around Lani walking to our first class. "I'm gonna sit with Lexi." Lani kissed my cheek and sat in the desk next to Lexi.

"No, you're not." I grabbed the leg of the desk and dragged it next to me."You're being rude." She pouted taking her notebook out. "What's your point?" I furrowed my eyebrows taking a pencil out her bag.

"You should be nice to people instead of being mean." Lani smiled writing down the notes on the board.

I wanna hear her sing. She used to sing all the time when we were little. Erykah Badu was and still is her number one artist. Maybe she stopped after all the beatings I gave her for it. Singing wasn't my favorite thing when I was little. It made me feel happy. I won't allow myself happiness because it's all lies.

"I'm signing you up for the talent show." I put my feet on the desk finishing my classwork. "I have no talent." Lani sighed giving her paper to the teacher packing up her stuff.

"Biggest lie I've ever heard." I smiled cracking my knuckles. "I don't even know any songs. I'd make a complete fool of myself." She walked beside me on our way to the 2nd period.

"I was born underwater with three dollars and six dimes." I looked at her waiting for her to finish the rest of Erykah Badu.

"Yeah, you might laugh cause you did not do your math. Like one, two, three. Damn y'all feel that?" She sang aloud drawing attention to us.

"Like one, two, three the world keeps turning. Oh, what a day, what a day, what a day. The man that knows something knows that he knows nothing at all. Does it seem colder in your summertime and hotter in your fall." The group got bigger and bigger and people started snapping on the beat.

"That's all folks. Y'all can see her at the talent show." I wrapped my arm around her and walked into our class.

"I'll think about it throughout the day." She mumbled taking out her books.

I got something for her this weekend and hopefully, it goes as planned.
