"Luna? Luna? Come on my Luna, wake up," a voice cooed.

Groaning I opened my eyes, trying to see the face that owned the voice, squinting at the owner I raised a brow at them. Unimpressed at being woken up.

"Come on Luna, you know you need to get up. We have a ceremony to prepare for," the voice chuckled.

"Twenty minutes," I grumbled, dropping my face into the furs.

Chuckling the voice pressed a kiss to my head, "Ten minutes and then we need to leave."

"Fine," I mumbled, unable to fall back asleep.

Rolling onto my back I stared at the wooden ceiling as I dug into my consciousness in search of my wolf. Biting my lip as I tried to get some form of response from her, my frustration grew as each attempt seemed to fail.

"She's probably asleep," the same voice answered.

Looking to my left I couldn't help but stare at River as he stood in the bathroom doorway. A pair of black jeans hugged his legs as he grinned at me.

"Like what you see?" River teased, rubbing his hair dry with a towel.

"Yeah, I do," I whispered, smiling at him as I sat up, covering myself with one of the furs.

Chuckling River walked over to me, his feet moving silently across the floors like a cat. Kneeling in front of me River placed a gentle kiss to my lips causing my face to heat up as I smiled at him. As the light flittered through the windows I couldn't help but hold my breath, as the morning ray touched River's hair it looked lighter than before. Not a gold but almost a silver colour.

"Your hair," I mumbled, touching a stray curl on River's forehead.

"It's a tradition in my Pack," River explained. "When we Mate or chose our Chosen Mates, our hair lightens. It only happens with the males though, it's why most of the males in our Pack has silver hair," he laughed.

"I didn't know that," I whispered.

"Well, now you do," he answered, grinning widely. "Go have a shower, Luna. We have to go see the Elder's and play with paperwork."

Paperwork, I'd completely forgotten about it. Once an Alpha chose a Mate or a new Alpha had been announced, they had to come and see the Elders. Filling out paperwork and vowing to protect their Pack. It was simple to do but it was always a hassle to find the time to do so. I was glad we were already in Aequum and near the Elders.

"Alright," I mumbled, standing on wobbly legs I let the fur fall make to the floor.

"Actually," River started, grabbing hold of my hand.

"What?" I asked, chuckling at River as he looked at me with a impish grin. "I think the shower can wait a little longer," River grinned, pulling me down into his lap.

"If you keep this up we'll never get anything done," I teased.

"That's fine by me," River answered, silencing any of my other protests with a kiss.

"You know we could've gotten that paperwork done with earlier if you hadn't distracted me," I grumbled as I crossed my arms across my chest.

River looked at me, his face tinged with red as he gave me a bashful smile before looking back at the road ahead of him.

"I couldn't help myself," River answered as he focused on driving.

"I noticed," I replied, giggling at him.

"Not my fault your so beautiful, my Luna," River spoke, smiling widely like an idiot.

Rolling my eyes I looked away from River, and looked at the trees as they flew by. Despite having to do paperwork earlier I couldn't help but smile. River and I had signed papers, ones that declared as Mates by the Moon God, Mani and another that shared my title with River.

"What're you thinking about?" River asked, raising an eyebrow as he glanced a look at me.

"How's it feel to be an Alpha?" I asked, grinning at River as a swell of pride enveloped my heart.

Rivers cheeks tinged with pink as he smiled sheepishly at the road.

"I don't know. Like I know that I'm Alpha now and so does my wolf but it doesn't seem real yet. I don't know, it's hard to explain," River answered.

"I know what you mean, it's confusing, overwhelming but your happy at the same time. It's how I felt when I took over my Pack," I answered.

"I guess it's our Pack now."

River smiled as we drove in silence. "Yeah, I guess it is," he answered.

"I'm sorry about before."

Frowning, River turned and looked at me.

"Sorry for what?" He asked, confusion written over his features.

"The trip to the Elders. It would've been quicker and easier if we'd gone by car instead of by horse," I replied, pulling my eyes away from River and focusing them on my hands.

"Hey," River spoke, taking hold of my hands. "Don't worry about it. I'm fine. We got out of there and besides. It was fun going by horse."

"River, I almost got us killed. You especially!" My heart tightened at the thought of What would've happened if Mani hadn't called in a favour from the Elf King.

"Scarlett, it's okay. I'm okay. I'm here with you. Nothing will ever stop us from being together okay?" Rivers voice was strong and full of confidence as he gave my hand a reassuring squeeze.

Fooling ourselves into a false sense of security we entered our territory. Unaware of the chaos that had unfolded and the monster that was awaiting us.
