Chapter 8- Jackie is back

Marcos pov

I wondered what school was going to be like without star with me.

"Marco are you coming for dinner now?" My dad yelled up the stairs to me.

"Coming!"

I sat at the table and looked at the food, they had ordered pizza.

"Thanks." I nodded at them both and started to eat.

"Dont rush marco, your girlfriend will send another dove to you soon." My dad watched me.

"Shes not my girlfriend." I looked at him and scowled.

He laughed and so did my mother.

I finished my food and went back upstairs, no sign of any letters.

I looked at the time, 8pm.

I couldnt call star while she was in mewni, my phone wouldnt call the number and would just fail.

I sighed and looked at the egg.

I walked over to it and got it out the cage.

I cradled it in my arms and sat on my bed.

"I need to stop worring, star will send me a letter soone enough." I traced the patterns on the egg and went to put it away.

I needed something to take my mind off star for awhile.

I picked up my phone and looked through my contacts.

Janna, No. 

Mum, No.

Dad, No.

I sighed loudly.

I took a deep breath and started to call jackie, she picked up straight away.

"Oh hey marco." She sounded happier than ever, i could hear oskar singing in the background,i chuckled to myself.

"H-Hey Jackie."

"Whats up?" She laughed "You dont usually ring me."

"Nothing, i just needed someone to talk to, nobody else answered." I lied

"Whats happened with star." She sighed

"Nothing, I just left her house actually."

"Oh cool, want me to come over?" 

"Yeah ok." I said quietly.

"Wait, i cant hear you..." 

"OSKAR SHUT UP!" She yelled at Oskar and i pulled the phone away from my ear.

"What was that?" She spoke normally again.

"Yeah sure come over."

I ended the call and sighed to myself.

A few minutes later jackie knocked on my bedroom door.

"Come in." I shouted to her.

"Your parents let me in." She walked inside my room closing the door behind her.

"Why you in the dark." She flicked the light switch.

"Oh i dont know."I sighed.

I felt bad inviting jackie over after what happened, but she was the only person i had.

She walked over to the bird cage, "Whats this?" She opened the door and took out the egg.

"Be careful with that." I got up and ran over to her, "Its a bird egg."

"And way do you have this?" She looked at it, clearly confused.

"Star gave it to me..." I looked at the floor.

"Oh... right..." She said quietly, "Wait what? Star gave you a bird?Why did star give you a bird?"

"So we can send letters." I tried to grab the egg of jackie but she moved away.

"Oh like a messenger pigeon? Thats cool." 

"Yeah, can we put it away now?" I opened the cage door.

"Yeah ok." She went to put it in the cage.

I turned around and started to walk to my window to check for letters, i stopped when i head a huge bang behind me.
