Your POV:

It's been about a year since we woke up from the ice. So much is different now. I like that I can wear these jeans and shirts. I've also helped the boys learn how to use this technology. However we still haven't really adjusted. I think that man named Fury keeps tabs on us, but let's us live life. I think they help pay for our things because we really haven't gotten jobs yet which we'll need to find eventually.

Bucky and I have become really close. I've learned a lot about him, and he's learned a lot about me. Plus I really like him. A lot. His friend Steve is super nice too, and sometimes he'll come over to eat with us. He said I was an amazing cook, which made me happy since I don't use my powers for everyday life.

Tonight was one of those nights. Steve came in, but I didn't have anything ready because normally he'd text me or Bucky when he was coming. I went to the kitchen to start the food.

Bucky's POV:

"Steve what's wrong?"

"I'm sorry. It's just Fury came to me today. He wants us to join the Avengers initiative. It's a group of people who are going to help better the world."

I sighed. I knew a day like this would come.

"Steve... It's just that... I think I want a normal life. I don't know if I'm ready for something like this again. I was planning on taking y/n to a fancy restaurant tomorrow night. I finally worked enough courage and I was going to ask her to be my gal. Plus I don't want her to be in any danger. I know she can take care of herself, but if anything really did happen to her I don't know if I'd be able to forgive myself. I... Can I at least think it through?"

"Sure Buck."

Then he just left after going to the kitchen to tell y/n goodbye.

"It's Steve okay?"

"Yeah. He just wanted to know if we wanted to help him with a group of people called the Avengers. I said I'd think about it." What was I going to do? Lie? I can't do that to y/n. If I care about her, she should know about these things. She probably would find out anyway.

"Oh. Bucky if you want, go ahead, or you can take your time. I don't know if I want to though. I more of a I'll help when I feel it girl. However I suppose if they need us it's best to help."

"Y/n... How about we both think about this okay. Maybe we should though. I just... Is it bad that I don't want to help these people. That I want a normal life..."

"James... No it's not bad at all. You've been through war already and you've almost died twice now. I can understand why you'd want to live a normal life. When most people survive a war they get to go home, find someone, get a house, have a family... You didn't get that, but it's what you want. It's what anyone probably wants."

"But Steve is still going to do it."

"Look Bucky, the decision is yours to make, but you need to think about yourself. You should do what makes you happy."

"You know what you're right. Why don't we go out tomorrow night, just me and you. It's this new classy place in town."

"Sure. I guess we'll have to get gussied up then huh?"

"Guess so. We'll leave at six."

She smiled and I helped her get out the plates and such and we ate her delicious (favorite food).

"You know I should really teach you how to cook more things other than pancakes." She giggled that adorable laugh.

"I guess so doll."
