There will be many that argue that this step/tip isn't completely backed up by fact. It's true that in the book world very clichéd and overdone storylines are churned out year after year and become bestsellers, but that doesn't mean it's right.

When writing a book, try and find your own unique style and voice. Don't get bogged down by what the crowd is looking for, because then you will lose all passion in what you're writing. Close your eyes, and allow yourself to become completely immersed within the world you are writing in.

Having something different or unique in your book makes you stand out, and that's what any respectable author wants to do. Who wants to follow the crowd when you could make the crowd follow you?

Cast away any thoughts about writing to please an audience, and write the way you want to. Write lyrically, poetically, harshly, brutally, passionately- just write. Find your tone and style that is original to you and will make people fall in love with your book. It can take time, but keep practicing and (most importantly) writing.
