6: Stay Away

I looked up from the puke bucket and saw Marco looking worried, it makes me happy that he cares about me. I just don't understand what happened to me? As my stomach relaxes and I feel a bit better I hear someone walk in. I smile thinking it's Marco but it fades when it's Jackie

"Jackie? What are you doing here?" She stops beside me and doesn't say a word "Uh.." she leans closer and looks at me "Stay away from Marco" I raised a brow "What?" She scoffs and moves away "Stay away from Marco, I have a feeling this summer he'll ask me out before school starts and I'm pretty sure you're not joining our school"

I looked away and bit the inside of my cheek "Why do you care? Me and Marco are just friends and nothing is gonna happen between us" she laughs a bit "Lies, I saw you and him hanging by the bonfire talking all night. Arts and crafts you two were laughing and getting along and then this morning during mess hall, waving and smoking at each other.."

I tried to sit up but was still weak "We are friends, that's what friends do..I could care less if he likes me or not, wait did you poison me?" She smirks and shakes her head "I don't do the dirty work, anyways I'm gonna go find Marco, stay away okay?"

I glared at her and she took off and I just wanted to cry but I didn't when I heard more footsteps "Star!" I felt arms wrap around me and I blushed when I recognized the scent "Hey..Marco" he smiled brightly "How you feeling? You okay?" He felt my face and looked into my eyes and I looked away

"Marco, you shouldn't be close to me I'm not the kind of person you should be friends with" he tilts his head and chuckled "What? If course you are, what's going on?" "Someone poisoned me" his eyes widen and held my hands on his "What?! Who?! I'll tell my uncle right away" as I was gonna speak

"Marco! Oh there you are, I need help with something" Jackie came in looking innocent and it made my stomach turn "In a minute, I'm speaking with Star" he said sternly and he brushed his fingers through my long messy hair and I smiled "Its really important, so can you just help quickly?"

She pulled his arm and he pulled back "Jackie! Quit it! Can't you see I'm busy? Go ask Bryan or Janna for help" he sounded a bit annoyed and she sighs and leaves but not before she glares at me "Honestly.." he mumbles before looking at me with a soft expression

"I'm sorry about her, I'm a little on edge at the moment" "How come? Can you pour me water please?" He nods and comes back with a cup of water "Because Janna said some weird things and it's kinda freaking me out. Like I should be careful or something and she was saying that you liked me more than that"

I faked laughed and nodded "Yeah, no offense but I just want us to be friends?" He chuckles "Of course, I really need to know who poisoned you also the kids were worried about you" "I bet, I feel bad because I got sick out of nowhere" he smirks "Well tomorrow we're partners for pool time"

"There's a pool here?" "Yeah they weren't finished setting it up yet but it's done now. Also they have a private hot tub for the counselors which I'm excited to try" I nodded "That's so cool, I can't wait uh Marco" he looks at me "Yeah?" "Um..you should ask Jackie out"

he lowered his eyes and turns his head "I was going to but, I'm getting a vibe that she doesn't like you and I can't be with a girl who judges by just one glance so I'm not gonna going ask her out" my heart races and I smile "Oh, I knew people didn't like me"

I lowered my head "Hey, I like you and so does Eva and Jon. Who cares for the others? As long as we're friends we'll be okay" I giggled and noticed he still held my hand and I smirked and he noticed "Oh, sorry uh I should get back to the campers, see you tomorrow okay?"

I nodded and waved "Okay, bye" "Bye" he almost tripped out the door and it made me laugh "You didn't see that!" He yelled, I just shook my head "Cute idiot"

The next morning I woke up early so I can surprise the kids and get them ready for the pool day. As i got into my cabin the kids were awake and ran towards me "Star!!" I laughed as I got surrounded by them "Are you okay?" "How are you feeling? "Did you die?" I laughed "I'm better guys, how are you guys doing? Did counselor Marco take care of you guys?"

They nodded "Yeah, but he looked so worried" Camilla said as she was wrapped around my waist "Really?" "Yeah, he kept sighing and looking out the window towards the medical bay for your update" I blushed "he cares about you" as I turn its Eva and shes smiling

"Hey, you stayed with them?" She nods "Yeah, also I'm glad your okay and this time my dad has been supervising the food cause Marco told me what happened" I nodded "Thanks" "Hey before you go, did Marco really worry about me?" She giggles and nods "Yeah, see you at mess hall" she took off and the kids looked ready

"Well, ready?" They nodded and we headed out. As we walked I saw Janna "Hey Star, what's up?" I shrugged "You feeling okay?" I ignored her "Hey! I'm trying to talk here?" I stop and look at her "Did you poison me?" I whispered and she shook her head

"No, I would never ever do that to anyone, I might be crazy or weird but I would never try killing anyone" I sigh "Fine" "Starship! Are you okay?" I look and see Tom all flustered up "I heard you were in the medical bay and something bad happened and I couldn't see you" I smirked

"I'm fine, I'm better than yesterday" he nods and pulls me into a hug "Thank God! I'll kill anyone who did it!" He took off and I just laughed "Star you should be careful or Jackie" "I know that Janna, but I'm not gonna back down for this fight"
