---Chapter 21---

Jasmine's Pov

I was now facing Nico. "Long time no see," I said, a smile on my face.

"J-Jasmine? Wha-Why-" gaped Nico. I laughed a bit. Zeus cleared his throat.

"Anyway," said Zeus, eyeing me carefully. I nodded for him to continue. Nico turned and was now facing Zeus. "Nico Di Angelo, Son of Hades, we would like to offer you to live here in Olympus, with us. Nico, how would you like to become a god?" Nico was staring at all the gods and goddesses, shocked.

"M-Me? Why? I'm nothing special," he said, still looking too shocked. Zeus wasn't getting any answer from Nico, so now he looked irritated.

"How about I talk to him for a bit?" I asked, cutting into their conversation before Zeus could shoot Nico with lightning. Zeus nodded and I led the way to the balcony in my room. We went through twists and turns around the kingdom, Nico seemed to get confused. I smiled to myself. I missed you, Nico. In a few seconds, we were finally at the balcony. I sat down on a stone bench and signaled for Nico to follow, which he did.

"S-So, you're a goddess now?" asked Nico. I nodded. "Why didn't you at least call or send a message or something?! I was worried sick about you! Everyone told me you were dead!" his voice started to rise with sadness. My eyes wondered to the ground.

"I am sorry, Nico. The others wouldn't let me. Aphrodite tried to help me, but the phone was singed by Zeus," I said.

"Well, at least tell me what happened," said Nico, desperation in his voice.

"They offered immortality to me. I only agreed because I wanted you with me. Nico, we could be together here at Olympus. It isn't that bad. I've been here for a week and everyone is so friendly to me. They're like my family now. We could be together forever," I said, smiling at Nico. He looked away.

"I don't know. Jasmine, we could have lived a normal life at Camp Half-Blood. Well, as normal as it can get. What about everyone at Camp? Your dad? Your life there?" questioned Nico.

"My dad already knows. He's still back home in Ohio, owning as many businesses as possible. My old life is gone now. My new life is here," I said, enveloping his hand into my small ones. "And life is never normal for a demigod." Nico looked into my eyes, mesmerized. He chuckled.

"Now your eyes are green," said Nico, smiling. I smiled back. He leaned in and once more, the spark-flying kiss went off. I finally pulled away at what seemed like hours of making out.

"Please," I whispered, leaning my head against his shoulder.

"We should go back to everyone," said Nico, pulling me to my feet. I nodded and led the way back to the throne room.

"Ah, there you are. So what do you say, Son of Hades?" asked Hephaestus, tinkering with metal in his hand. Nico whispered something into Zeus's ear that I could not hear. Zeus looked at me and shooed me away. The doors began to close.

"Here's my decision," was all I heard come from Nico before the doors shut. I walked to my room and sat on my goddess-sized bed. I smiled. Finally, I thought. A demi-god story with a happily ever after. Suddenly, Aphrodite ran into my room, panting.

"What's wrong?" I asked, helping Aphrodite to sit. She got a mirror and fixed her makeup before answering.

"My dear, I have some news," said Aphrodite, sadness in her voice. I stared at her, wanting Aphrodite to continue. "Nico. He made his decision." Happiness filled inside of me. He said yes! I nodded for her to continue. "He...He said no to our offer." Suddenly, my world crashed before my eyes, enveloping me in darkness. I could hear Aphrodite and the others trying to wake me, but to not prevail. He said no, was the last thing I remembered.

----------The next day----------

I woke up groggily. Athena was at my side, trying to give me something to eat or drink, but I shook my head.

"Dear, you must eat if you want to be strong and healthy," she said, sounding like she was talking to a five-year-old. I finally gave in, but only drank water, not eating a single bite. After a few more minutes of silence, I finally spoke up.

"Why did he say no?" I asked, tears choking my words. Athena looked up at me.

"The Son of Hades said that this is your life, not his," she said, before patting my hands. "I must go attend to my work." Athena gently kissed my forehead before getting up and walking out of my room. I sat there, sadness in my heart. A single tear escaped from my eye. But I thought he loved me.

"He does!" said Aphrodite as she appeared beside me. I jumped a bit. "I am sorry. Did not mean to startle you, hun. But the Son of Hades does love you, with all his heart."

"Then why didn't he accept the offer?" I asked.

"Like Athena had said, this is your life not his. He did not want any of this. The boy said that his happiness is at home, at Camp," answered Aphrodite. I looked down.

"Nico could have been happy here to, with me," I said. 'He didn't want any of this',  Aphrodite and Athena's words rang in my head. I nodded and said, "I understand. Is Nico still here?" I asked. Aphrodite nodded and showed me where he was. I walked up to Nico and tapped his shoulder. "Good morning," I greeted him.

"Morning," said Nico. "I'm sorry that I said no, but I don't want all this. I'm happy at Camp, where me family is." I nodded.

"I understand," I said before breaking down. I started sobbing as Nico held me in his arms.

"But I will always love you," said Nico, tilting my chin up so that I would face him. "I will never ever forget you. Your color changing, lovely eyes. Your elegant hair. And most of all, your beautiful face." Nico kissed me one last time.

"And I will never forget you. I love you Nico, forever and always."

"I love you, Jasmine," he said before shadow-traveling to Camp. I closed my eyes, tears rolling down my cheeks.

          "I love you, Nico."

-----------3 Days Later-----------

I walked into my bedroom out of boredom. I was about to sit down when I spotted a small box on my bed. There was a little note on it. The note read, 'To Lady Kristina. From Nico.' I opened it and found a beautiful locket inside. The back was engraved, saying ,'You are the key to my heart. I love you.' I opend the locket and inside was a picture of Nico and I laughing, in one another's arms. A tear escaped my eye. "I love you, too," I whispered.
