⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀"Mel, why the fuck didn't you telling me they were coming by beforehand?" KIELCE ASKED IRRITABLY, staring at her face in disbelief.

Her hair were in tight pins that she used to put a curl to her hair. She was nearly fully dressed and had makeup powdered on her face. She looked back at him with unknowingly, wandering eyes.

"I just thought it'd be good to have family time. Kielce I haven't seen them since we got married and you know all four of us don't have the best bond so I thought this would be a good.." She trailed off, before picking up another point of her reasoning. "We need them in this time Lece, I need my mom."

"So you couldn't go down and see them? How didn't you know I had to work this evening?"  Kielce scoffed, clutching his forehead and begin to rub his temples as she replied.

"Because I remember you saying you were off. Can you please just do this for me? Why the hell is it a big deal I want to see my parents!?" As always when she'd begin to get upset, her accent lingered through her words and a flustered look plastered over her face.

"You know why." He mumbled sternly and walked off from standing in her presence. His feet took him to the backroom inside his closet where he closed the door and breathed out.  Considering they were expected to arrive within forty minutes to an hour, Kielce had little to no time to prepare- not only by a shower and getting dressed, but also mentally.

Grabbing a decent light blue dress shirt and slacks from their hooks, he exited his closet and into the bathroom where he sat his clothes on the small decorative table they'd usually set their towels on when in the bathtub.

Melani took down her pins one by one, finger combing through the curls as she did. She faced the mirror so her back was to Kielce and tense quietness filled the space between them. Shaking his head in disappointment, Kielce reached inside the shower and turned the knob, starting the water and setting it on hot.

Melani was done fluffing her hair into place when the bathroom started to lightly fog. She trailed off into the kitchen, checking the time on the clock. She rubbed her hands down her fitted jeans and blew out a nervous breath. The doorbell rung but thankfully it weren't her parents just yet.

She retrieved money for the payment of the takeout food she ordered from a nearby Italian restaurant that went by Sotto Sotto. Her and Kielce had eaten there couple times and enjoyed the food. It was pretty affordable when their bills weren't too sky high for that month.

"Thank you." She politely said to the deliverer as they did a handoff - the money to him and the food to her. He replied nicely and wished her a nice evening before leaving the front step.

Melani shut the front door with her foot as she carried the food towards the kitchen in both hands and even a bag strap between her arm and body.

"Where are- who was that?" Kielce asked looking from the door to her as he button down his shirt. His question was answered within seconds as he looked at the brand on the take out bags. "Wow, phony."

"Shut up,I didn't feel like cooking." She retorted, setting the stuff on the counter tops and quickly found dishes to place them in so they'd at least appear homemade.

"That's what happens when you want to impress and invite people at the last minute." Kielce muttered among himself, making facials with his words as he looked down to his last button on his shirt, still working on it.

Melani heard the murmuring but couldn't make out what he said nor cared at this point, knowing it was additional negativity about tonight's events. She set the table with folded napkins, utensils, plates and empty glasses while placing the trays of food in the middle.
