I've had this art project running for a few weeks: making ceramic bells. I researched acoustics in preparation, and produced a few finished bells that are beautiful both in visual and audio (with more on the way, almost done).
Then, one of the finished ones stopped ringing nicely. It sounded like I was hitting a rock, instead of my triumph. With some expert help, I figured out that the change was likely due to cracking deep inside the bell, messing with its reverberation. Unfixable.
Oh, well. Life moves on. And I have ten more bells that I can hope and pray fare better than their sibling.
