I quickly got up, tugging Noah up with me as we stared at the growing flames in shock. They had left the fire place, grew around the curtains, engulfed the pile of wood and were heading for the very couch that we were standing in front of.I couldn’t help but freeze in fear once I realized what was actually happening, so this time it was Noah that tugged me, pulling my out of the way of the flames as they continued to grow. It wasn’t far from the couch to the door but this time as I Noah held my hand, keeping my close to him while guiding us through the smoke that had already started to form, it seemed like forever. It was shocking how fast the flames spread and the smoke formed, already starting to bother my lungs as I tried to breathe.

It was such a sense of relief when Noah finally swung open the front door and pushed my infront of him, telling my to run to the truck. And I unable to think or respond as a human did exactly what he did, I ran and ran until I could see the truck. Maybe it was the heat from the fire, maybe it was the smoke in my lungs, maybe it was the initial shock leaving my body or maybe it was the fact that I was never very athletic, but whatever it was caused my body to collapse suddenly and slowly lose consciousness of everything around me.

The last thing I saw was the truck, so it was to my surprise when I woke up in a hospital room. So many questions ran through my head. Where was Noah? How did I get here? What happened to the cabin? But as I focused my eyes and looked around the room another observation quickly caught my attention. Both of my parents were sitting in the room and they were talking, getting along even. I closed my eyes quickly before they realized I was awake and enjoyed listening to their conversation.

“No, no, no” My mom laughed.”That’s not what happened”

“Yes it is, I was there. I think I would know” my dad argued playfully. “Liam and I definitely won the nerf gun fight. We had the brains and the bronze, me being the brawns of course” My dad flirted with my mom. If it was under any other circumstance I would have been grossed out by my mom and dad flirting for some reason they were actually getting along.

“No Louis and I won, and that’s final” She stated firmly. “The brains and the brawns on your team were both from Liam anyways, you were the sore loser” my mom teased my dad. I let out a little laugh causing their attention to focus on me. “Oh Darcy, you’re okay!” my mom exclaimed and they both came over to the side of my bed.

“I am” I restated. “What happened?” I asked.

“You passed out from exhaustion.” My dad answers pushing some of my hair out of my face.

“You had a bit of smoke in your lungs from the fire but thankfully there was no damage” my mother continued to explain.

“Where’s Noah?” I tried to jump up but my parents pushed me down lightly.

“Take it easy, Noah is fine. He called the fire department and the ambulance, he’s at the station giving the cops a report.”

“A-are we in trouble?” I asked.

“The fire wasn’t started intentionally, but you guys did trespass and cause a lot of damage” my mother said sternly.”The whole place is burnt down” she added.

“But,” my dad butted in. “ The owner decided not to press any charges. You guys are lucky”

I nodded to let them that I understood what we did was dangerous. “ Are you mad at me?”

“We’re are just glad that you are okay” My mom said placing her hand on me, and my dad then placed his hand on hers. “We do need to talk about what you guys did later, but for now we are just happy we still have you” My mom said and my dad nodded smiling at her, and she returned a small smile to him.I couldn’t help but give them a wide smile, seeing them get along warmed my heart. That’s exactly what they needed, a common subject to bond over--my safety.

“When can I go home?” I couldn’t wait to go home and let the others see how well my dad and mom were getting along. This was never part of the plan but it had seemed to work better than the original.

“Once the doctor clears you, so in an hour hopefully” my dad answered. “ I’m going to go to the bathroom, did you guys  want something to drink?” he got up offering to bring something back.

“Some water maybe” I answered and my mom declined his offer. The second he left, the room became silent. It was just my mom and I, and after our last conversation I really didn’t know what to say.

“I’m sorry” she finally said after a period of awkward silence.

“For?” I raised my eyebrows surprised, she never apologizes to anyone.

“For the way I have been acting. I have been acting irrational keeping your dad from you and I shouldn’t have let my feelings get in the way of everything. Maybe your dad has changed.” she explained.

“So does that mean you’re not marrying Kenneth anymore?” I my voice raised in excitement.

“No, your dad has no affect on my relationship with Kenneth, we can get along and be humane now but that doesn’t change anything else. I’m sorry Darcy” My face fell with disappointment, and the conversation was over as my dad walked back into the room with my water. I hadn’t worked this hard for my dad to get friend-zoned there had to be something else I could do.

A/N: Thanks for reading, I hope you enjoyed it! I'm thinking 30-40 votes/comments on the chapter before I update.

There was a bit of a throwback to ISL, who was right about the nerf fight Harry or Sarah? I'll pick a few people who answered correctly to dedicate some chapters to!
