"So Mia, Do you have a boyfriend?" She kicked off the ground, pushing herself higher.
"Ummm.... No." What a weird thing to talk about with a 7 year old.
"Why? What's wrong with you" She ground her feet into the sand, turning to me with wide eyes "Are you a creepy person?"
"N-no" I sputtered, what the heck?
"You're a lesbian then."
"Uh, definitely not." Cute factor definitely gone now.
"At that moment an old women rounded the corner, calling her name as I sighed at the escape.
"This is my Gloria, she takes care of me." She said as she dragged the women toward me, somehow she had gotten across the park with ought me noticing. “And this is Mia, my new lesbian friend."
I felt my face go red as the women looked at me. "Oh, well it's nice to meet you, Mia." She turned and faced Nelly "It's time to got, its late Nel."
"No! Please, I want to play a little with Mia” she grabbed my hand and dragged me towards the slides as the woman chuckled in defeat; funny enough I didn't argue either.
I spent the next half an hour squeezing myself into places I no longer fit and sliding down a slide that made me feel like a giant, but despite that I was having fun, I'd always gotten along with little kid. In fact I was having so much fun I didn't notice the footsteps coming around the corner, nor did I feel the stare on my back and only realized someone else had joined our little party when Nelly jumped up screaming the name that made that one peaceful moment, well...not so peaceful.
"ASH!!" She screamed, running pass me towards the boys behind. I turned, hoping beyond hope that it was not the person I thought it was, and was faced with the same blue eyes as this afternoon. I thought I saw something soft passed through his gaze as he looked down at the girl that had just tackled him, but too soon it was gone and they quickly turned to the familiar cold eyes I knew.
Something told me this was bad. Something told me Ash was not happy that I somehow knew something about his private life. Even if it wasn't my fault.
"What are you doing here?” He barked at me. Not a question, a demand.
"Do you know her?" Nelly's soft voice travelled over whatever else he was about to spit at me, and he looked back down, the same look as earlier flickered on his face, a look that said more that words, he loved that little girl.
I got up, patting down my jeans. I gave a quick glance towards the siblings. "I guess you aren't as evil as you'd like everyone to think." Not with the way you love her, I though to myself, and before he could say anything in reply, I turned and raced towards the bus stop.

"Casablanca or Grease?"
My mom was sitting on the floor surrounded by the boxes and boxes of movies we owned and looking at the two CDs in her hands with a pained expression, "I mean in one hand I'm always up for watching John Travolta dance, but on the other hand I always love a good black and white movie."
"Go for the dancing, it comes with funny singing too."
"I know! Travolta sometimes over does it, doesn't he?" she looked up at me with an innocent look on her face.
"HAHA you know who I’m talking about." I gave her a pointed look, smiling at the memory of the past 10 times we had watched the movie, and how by the time we got to 'Grease Lightning' things got completely outrageous.
"Funny singing it is." She said, slipping the DVD in and plopping herself on the sofa next to me. She grabbed the bowl of popcorn off the table, grabbing the plate of cookies and handing it to me. " Lazy outfits." She looked down at my short/T-shirt combo then her own PJs "Check. Comfy sofa position" She leaned back on the sofa as I put my feet over hers."
