He saw her at the museum, but she wasn't herself.

She was crying but didn't pass herself off as okay as she usually would. She didn't thank strangers for their concerns or excuse herself for privacy. She just fell apart in the centre of everything and cried.

He'd only seen her like that once before: when her life had entirely combusted and she neglected to tell him. A point where she couldn't cope anymore and cried for hours straight.

Jungkook saw how desperately happy she tried to be, then and onwards, and it shattered him.

She would always smile and feign happiness; always pretend she was alright when she wasn't. She was always considering him over herself.

He admired how selfless she was; how willing she was to suffer through everything alone. He only wished she wouldn't, because it was breaking him as much it did her. He wanted to be there for her - to have her collapse on his chest whenever she needed it, because that's what he was there for; to love her even if she was broken.

He ran to her, throwing his arms around her in consolation - the way she'd tell him not to.

'What's wrong with me?' She sobbed, grabbing fistfuls of his shirt. 'Why can't I remember anything?!'

She was the one drowning in frustration, so why was a tear falling down his cheek?

Because it was him that she forgot.

She forgot that the person she was falling apart in front of was the thing she couldn't remember.

Because he saw how much not knowing hurt her.

Because he was right: knowing that she had forgotten broke her.
