'What was your name again?'
'Jungkook.'
'Oh, sorry! I'm not very good with names.'
She was getting worse.
Usually it took a week for her to forget him.
Now, it was only a matter of days.
Four days. That's all it took.
Four days for her to forget him all over again.
Four days for his heart to break again.
He didn't want to be upset. He wanted to empathise because he knew it wasn't her fault.
'No, that's okay. I understand.'
But Jungkook was upset. Upset, because his plan wasn't working for him. He wanted to remind her every day that he existed, that he was there for her, but it didn't make a difference and it frustrated him.
She didn't remember their relationship – not to the same extent he did. He remembered the cuddling, the comforting and the loving.
But she didn't remember anything.
Jungkook had been consistent, though. He always showed up in their regular spots and just chatted to her as if they were friends – as if he wasn't in love with her.
It was difficult for him. He was straining to tell her how many times they'd met, how many things they'd talked about, how many times she asked for his name.
But he couldn't, because it would kill her.
He was becoming restless. To have a lover forget everything about you each time you met was infuriating. He loathed it.
Jungkook was becoming obsessive – desperate to make her remember. He waited day by day to meet her all over again and tell her what his name was.
He was trying so hard. He wasn't sleeping anymore, simply strategizing their next run-in. He was crying, constantly, about how she didn't remember. How she wouldn't look at him the way she should be.
He was depressed because he was existing for her but she didn't exist for him.
