noise was lousy for a moment
harmony was stripped naked
there was a voice softly crying
a faint white–sound almost dying
I crawled out from the stomach of my room
a noun had swept peace away with a mischievous broom
shattered glasses, dismantled furniture
lied under my feet, shredded wedding pictures
carefully, I trailed the sorrowful sniffs
oblivious of the facts, my knees, slightly stiff
I hid back
seeing a manly shadow
fear swallowed me up in its sack
my heart cracked
as it came closer
vibrating fiercely, my cold shoulders
fate twisted, it went the opposite direction
phew, I heaved a silent sigh in relaxation
I tiptoed, like an experienced thief
towards the headquarters of the sniffs
I had a few suspicions but I had to be sure
I strongly desired to know all and more
I pushed the door with utmost courageous care, like death dwelled therein
half–masked by the door, my right eye scrutinized
I beheld mother, rubbing her pale red skin
gazed upon, by the moonlight, chorusing voiceless screams
her eyes met mine
scolding me like I had committed a crime
she was far from fine
I saw this in her crashing smile
my feet got stuck by the sight of blood on her lips
Immediately, my fragile eyes began to weep
I just stood there, unable to help her
she called but, I couldn't hear
I froze, couldn't come near
I couldn't save her, none of her trauma, I could bear
so, I reversed my steps, slowly
out of there, I hurried carelessly
back to the stomach of my room
cold and bloodless, like a frozen mushroom
I couldn't sleep
I couldn't open my eyes
I kept hearing the white–sound
the agony in her sniffAUTHOR'S NOTE
