A/N: thanks to jorja22xx for recommending this!
I tried to make this as real as possible, researching and watching videos about type 1 diabetes... I'm sorry if it didn't come across as perfectly accurate. It might not be as #relatable as the others but it was worth trying to write.

"Okay babe! I'm going out now!" Joe yells from the front door.
"Okay love you!" You called over your shoulder from the couch.
"You feeling alright?" Joe asked, coming over and looking over your shoulder at your laptop. "Ooh! Physics......I hated physics... absolutely hated it." He said to no one in particular.
"Oh.... ya." You mutter.
"You sure you're okay? He asks.
"Yes, I'm sure.... I thought you were supposed to be off to G-"
"Y/N," Joe interrupts "you look extremely pale right now. You feeling alright?"
You sigh and roll your eyes at him.
"You're wearing a long sleeve shirt, a jumper and a gigantic blanket." He leaned forward and felt your forehead; a look of panic spread across his face.
"We've gotta get you to the hospital."

You get up off of the couch and your legs automatically feel weak, you wobble and your legs give out.

"Y/N!" Joe shouts when he turns around to see you on the ground, leaning against the couch, breathing heavily and shaking.

Joe's P.O.V.
She looked pale and then when she was on the ground, I knew something had happened.
"Uh...... Y/N?" I looked at her.
She looked at me, said something that was slurred and incomprehensible. "I gotta call 999."
They instructed me to give her some juice just to hold her over before the paramedics got there. "Emergency services are on their way."

Eventually the paramedics showed up, surrounded around Y/N and went to work. She was crying; I wanted to cry too but I knew I couldn't because nothing would get done. They took her blood pressure, checked her pulse, and the other vital signs. I saw one of the paramedics take out a square monitor and poke Y/N's finger. Y/N screamed. I went to run to her but a paramedic told me to stay put.

"Okay. She's good for now but we'll need to take her to the hospital for some checkups." One of them said.
"You can come with us in the ambulance or take your own car. There's enough room but you need to decide quickly."

I decided to go with Y/N in the ambulance. It was a long ride. I called Zoe and Alfie and asked them to come to the hospital since I knew Caspar, Jack, Oli and Josh wouldn't be any help. They said they didn't mind and that they'd be there as soon as possible.

"How are you feeling?" Joe asked me.
"Uh, I don't know." I said "I'm tired."
It's been a few days in the hospital since that episode.
Zoe and Alfie were staying in a nearby hotel.

Then the doctor came in. I had reached over and Joe grabbed my hand.

"How are you feeling?" The doctor asked.
"Tired. Otherwise, I'm kind of bored actually." I replied.
"Well, tired makes sense actually. See, after all of the tests, we've been able to discover that you have type one diabetes." The doctor announced.

Diabetes? I've heard of that. It didn't seem real though. Just as something that I'd have to deal with.

"How?" Joe asked "she doesn't look like a diabetic."
"Well, she doesn't have to at all. Type one diabetes is when the pancreas doesn't produce any insulin; then the sugar builds up in your bloodstream and can't be used for energy. You're thinking about type two, where it's more like insulin resistance. There's no known cause or cure but if Y/N here is able to switch up her lifestyle, she should be alright." The doctor said.
