Chapter 10

Lucy's POV

I had been in here for a couple of days, but it felt like a lifetime. I missed BEN, and I missed everyone else.

I sighed, flopping back on my mattress, and I felt as if my heart had been broken up, and taped back together.

"Hey, Lucy."

I jumped as I heard the familiar voice of Connor. I nearly cried as memories of our friendship flooded back to me.

"Connor!" I said, as I saw a rough silhouette moving towards me. He sat beside me, and I threw my arms around him.

"It's okay, Lucy. I'm here."

I nodded, and suddenly, I felt like crying. A tear slid down my cheek, and then, I was sobbing. Wracking sobs shook my body, and Connor was holding me. I pushed away from him, and wiped my eyes.

"I'm sorry, Connor. I am so sorry," I said, and he hugged me again. He was so familiar I let out a cry of happiness.

"Can I tell you something?" Connor asked, and I nodded.

"Yeah, of course."

"I'm one of them," Connor whispered, and I reeled back, winded.

"You know BEN? Is he coming for me?" I asked, my heart speeding up.

"BEN, BEN, BEN. Do you only care about BEN? I thought you liked me!" Connor yelled. I crawled backwards, scared by his sudden outburst.

"I don't know you! Who are you?" I asked, my heart in my throat.

"My name is Toby," he said, and I nodded.

Suddenly, light flooded into the room, and I looked away. I heard a thump as something hit the floor.

"Where is she?" I heard a voice say, and I grinned as I realized it was Jeff.

"Jeff!" I screamed, and I felt arms around me.

"It's me, Lucy. It's me."

I threw my arms around BEN, and I felt safe again, even though I knew things about him which should have made me reel away.

"I'm so sorry, Lucy. I love you, and I'll never let them take you away again."

"I... I love you too, BEN."
