Chapter 1

"Hey Lucy, want to come out to a movie with me?" Connor asked, and I smiled.

"Yeah, sure why not, it might be fun," I said, and Connor blushed. I grabbed my sweater and pulled it over my thin t-shirt. "I'll meet you at the movies at 6.30?" Connor nodded, and I grinned. "Okay, see you later," I called as I walked away.

My phone buzzed, and I pulled it out. I smiled at the text.

So you and Connor, huh? Of course Gwen knew about Connor and I. Gwen knew everything, even if it just happened.

Okay, he's just a friend, and we're going to the movies together.

No, he asked you out. LOL don't worry he likes you and you like him :)

I smiled as I felt a body push up against mine.

"Hey, Gwennie. How did you find out about Connor?" I asked, as she skipped in front of me. She was grinning, her hazel eyes sparkling.

"Oh, you know me, Lucy. I have my resources," she teased. I smiled, as we began to walk.

"Hey, I got to go, get ready for my 'date'. Bye, Gwennie," I said, as I opened the door and was rewarded with a cold blast of air. I waved at Gwen, and I walked out the door. I put in my headphones and turned up my music, the sound of Black Veil Brides filling my ears as I began my journey home.

-------------------------------

I checked my phone. It was 6.10. It took about 15 minutes to get to the movies, and I didn't want to be early. But I decided to leave early anyways. It was easier than waiting for Connor. I grabbed my coat and my earmuffs, and started off.

A cold gust of wind ripped through the night, and I shivered. The movies were still at least 10 minutes away. Suddenly, I remembered that there was a short-cut through an alley. I knew it wasn't the best idea, but nothing ever happened in the tiny town of Aldcrest.

I stopped at the entrance of the alley. I took a deep breath, and I started to walk. I pulled my coat tighter around myself. I stopped, thinking I had heard footsteps behind me. There was nothing. I started walking again, but this time a little faster. I pulled out my phone, and in one swift motion, I turned on the flashlight and turned around.

I held back a scream as I saw a boy in a black hoodie and blue mask. There was black liquid dripping from his eyes, but he had no eyes, only black pits. His head was cocked to the side, and he seemed to be staring at me.

"Can I have your kidneys?" he asked, holding up a scalpel. I shook my head, containing a scream. He smiled, and I took a step back. "Oh, well, I guess I'm just going to have to take them." He kept approaching, and eventually I was pushed up against the wall.

"Why do you want my kidneys?" I asked, and suddenly I had an idea. The boy shrugged.

"It doesn't matter," he whispered, just as I shone the flashlight right into his 'eyes'. The boy suddenly balked, and I had the opportunity to knee him in his lower region. He bent over, and I ran away as fast as I could, eventually running onto a street.

A car passed by, almost hitting me, and an angry honk could be heard. I quickly crossed the road, and I saw a store, with the open sign still on.

As soon as I entered, all I saw was video games. Rows and rows of videogames. I took a step forward, and saw a sign that said "Legend of Zelda". I decided to go down there, as it was the most well lit area.

I took a seat near the statue of Link. I pulled out my phone.

Connor, I don't think I'm going to make it.

Connor replied a minute later. Oh... Okay... :(

I'm so sorry, I said, as I heard footsteps approaching my location. I tensed up, but a man approached me, a curious look on his face.

"Are you alright," he asked. I nodded, and he smiled. "We're closing in ten minutes."

"Oh, okay, sorry," I said, just as I stood up. Something caught my eye and I turned to pick it up. It was an old game, with the words Majora's Mask written on it in black marker. "Hey... What's that?"

The man grimaced. "Are you sure you want that?" he asked. I nodded, and he handed it to me.

"How much?" I asked, and the man shrugged.

"You can have it. It's been on my shelf for over three years now, I don't know if anyone is going to buy it. So, since you're interested, you can have it."

I thanked the man and left the store. I called my mom, and she agreed to pick me up. I waited for ten minutes, and she picked me up.

"Thanks, Mom," I said as I got into the car as quickly as I could.

"Hey, sweetie. What's that?" she asked, pointing to my game. I shrugged.

"I found it in a store that Connor and I went into... The man gave it to me, and I thought that I would play it."

My mother nodded, and I clutched the game closer to my chest, feeling protective of it.

"Where did Connor go?" she asked, and I shrugged.

"He didn't show up," I said, and I felt my ears turn red. My mother sighed and patted my hand.

"It's okay, sweetie," she said as she started the car. "He's missing out on an amazing girl."

We pulled away from the store, and as we drove away, I felt as if someone was watching us. I looked into the rearview mirror, and I bit my lip to keep from crying out. The boy with the mask was watching us go, and he looked... Sad? How can a mask look sad?

--------------------------

When I got home, I ran into my room and pulled on my pajama's. I got into bed, and completly forgot about the boy with the mask as sleep took me into the world of dreams.
