Gaining Wattpad followers can seem desirable, but, like reads, they take time to accumulate.
They also represent essentially nothing, in comparison to recognition of good content; i.e. follows aren't necessarily going to bring you reads, rather, recognition of your works are more likely to bring you followers.
Therefore, follower gain should become a secondary aim, the primary aim being your content, if you intend to use Wattpad as a writer.
Nevertheless, things like personalising your profile to make it unique and compliment your works could help you gain followers (e.g. fandom's), if that's something you're interested in. Check out the Profiles chapter for more!
