Chapter Twenty-Seven

Start from the beginning

"I'm sorry, Mr.Tele. Personal issues," I mutter, beginning to walk out of his office.

"No more personal issues, Ms. Banks. You aren't my boss, I'm yours. If anyone is going to be taking personal calls on the others phone, it's me." He barks. "Now go get me some coffee before I fire your ass."

With an angry scowl on my face, I walk out of his office, make him coffee, and spit in it. I bring it back to him, all the time thinking about what is going to happen tonight.

Grabbing my purse and Maternity jacket, I power off my computer and get up from my desk, waving goodbye to Craig and secretly giving him the middle finger,

I walk into the elevator full of office employees and casually walk to the corner while pulling out my phone so I could play Panda pop. Within a minute, my nerves are calmed and I'm ready to face Clyde and our undecided fate.

I walk out of the elevator and immediately sense his presence. Looking around, I find him talking to the person who was working the front desk. As if Clyde could feel my eyes on him, he looked away from his deep discussion and caught my eyes in a staring contest.

"Stila," Clyde mouthed from across the lobby, quickly turning his head and ending his conversation before taking the steps so that he'd be in front of me.

Forgetting our pending fight, I run into his open arms and, as best as I can with the baby bump, give him the biggest hug I could manage.

"I missed you," I hear my voice crack, and soon realize my eyes were tearing up.

"I missed you more, baby," he quietly said back, releasing me and taking my hand before leading me out into the busy streets of New York and into his car.

We rode in silence until we reached a wealthy looking restaurant.

"Can't we go somewhere... loud?" I ask him, looking at the restaurant with disgust. They probably only served expensive seafood.

"Of course! What were you thinking? It's up to you," he rushed out, backing out of his parking place and driving forward on the one-way street.

"I've been craving Shake N' Shack," I told him, looking out of the window.

"Sure," he said, his nose wrinkling, probably in distaste.

We reached Shake N' Shack after a couple minutes of awkward silence. After helping me out of the car, he directed me to a table and told me to wait while he ordered our food.

Being pregnant and all, I couldn't help but tell Clyde to order me a Hot Dog, fries, and of course, a shake.

He came back with my food, as well as a cheeseburger and water for himself.

Taking a big bite, he immediately spits it back out of his mouth and onto his plate.

"What the fuck is this?" He asked, astonished and looking at the chewed up, spit out food that was laid out.

"It's food," I said, giggling and releasing some tension in my shoulders. "Take my fries."

Grabbing them, he dunked one in a big puddle of ketchup and popped it in his mouth.

"With the overwhelming taste of ketchup, you can hardly tell that they were frozen and all the workers had to do was toss them in the oven," he mumbled, rolling his eyes and taking a sip of his water.

After gobbling down my squishy hot dog and drinking up all of my small, six dollar shake, I stare across at Clyde and bite nervously on the Shake's straw.

"Stila, babe, I didn't mean anything I said." He whispered, reaching across the dirty table and taking my hand.

"Are you sure you don't think I ruined your life?" I bitterly ask, letting my hand go limp.

"I'm sure. If anything, you've made my life 100% better. And I'm sorry about missing dinner. I promise I'll be home before nine o'clock from now on. I'll just have to do some work in my office late at night," he rambled, nervously looking at me.

"Clyde, I'm sorry. I feel really awful. I don't know why I can't comprehend that you're a CEO and you need to work," I say, letting tears flow down my cheeks.

"Stila, shh, it's okay," he says, reassuringly rubbing his thumb over my fingers.

"You don't have to come home just to eat dinner with me and work some more," I whimper, grabbing his water and stealing a few sips.

"I should've been doing it before, I was stupid not to," he reasoned.

Nodding my head, I accepted that he was fine with his decision.

After allowing me to calm down, we both decided it was time that I go back to my real home and not to Theo and Zackie's.

Walking in after getting my things from their place, I couldn't help but feel at home and safe in Clyde and I's home. I immediately went to Alden's room and made sure everything was still in its place.

Smiling and thinking about the future, I close my eyes that night and dream of a dark haired little boy running in the Central park with Clyde chasing him.
