The soft whimper that reaches his ears nearly broke his heart, and as he gently pushes open the door, the sight before him nearly shatters every fiber of his being. A brief look of shock quickly washes over his features, and for a moment he is unsure of what he should do.  He quickly shakes away his doubt rushing to her side. She looks down shamefully another tear slipping down her cheek. He softly pulls her into his arms, her quiet whimpers disappearing with the sound of his heartbeat. He gently runs his hand through her hair, resting his chin on top of her head.

"Shh, it's alright love." He whispers. "Everything's alright."

"I can't do it." She mumbles. "I can't keep fighting."

He squeezes her tighter burying his nose into her hair. "When was the last time you ate?"

She lightly shakes her head. "I can't remember."

He sighs gently rubbing soothing circles on her back. "I know your tired love, but I swear to you, we will free you from this curse. And all this pain, and hopelessness will disappear, and life will get so much lighter. You just have to keep fighting for a while longer." He pulls back, his fingers slipping under her chin as he brings her gaze up to his. "Can you do that for me, love?" He questions quietly, brushing away her stray tears. "I can't lose you again." He mumbles, placing a feather light kiss on her cheek.

More tears well up in her eyes as she tightly clucks his shirt. "Klaus." She whispers. "Make it go away, please?"

The hybrid meets her gaze at a loss of words. "Clara-"

"Am I interrupting something?"

Klaus' eyes snap to the doorway. "What do you want Rebekah?"

"I thought I would offer my assistance."

Klaus licks his lips letting his eyes close. "And how can you do that dear sister?"

"By giving Clara my blood." There's a brief pause before she continues. "From what Elijah tells me, our blood cares enough magic to cancel out those fun little party sacs eating away at our friend here."

Klaus' eyes fall to Clara, she shakes her head. "Please don't make me Klaus, please it hurts too much."

Klaus swallows thickly, ashamed at what he is about to do. He brings her hand up to his lips, placing a gentle kiss to her knuckles as he unhooks the silver chain.

"Klaus-"

He gently places his finger to her. lips, staring deeply into her eyes.

"You will drink Rebekah's blood." He compels. "And you will feel as little pain as possible."

She nods in a trance like state.

Klaus runs his hand through his hair, looking at the sleeping form in the bed. She had successful spit up another bag, however, his plan to try and compel pain out of it had failed, and he felt awful about it.

"We are not that powerful Nik." Rebekah states softly.

"I know."

"Then why try?"

He sighs leaning his forearms against his knees. "Because I had to. Because the longer she's like this the more broken I feel."

"I guess after centuries of being a murderous monster I forget that you too have feelings."

"Have you talked to Zek?" He questions after a moment of silence.

"I don't want to talk about him." She states quickly.

The hybrid looks to his sister. "I am sorry Rebekah, I will admit that I lost sight of what-"

"I don't what you half-attempt apology Nik, and as for Zek I will face him again when I am ready."

It wasn't until Rebekah reaches the door that Klaus found his voice again. "Thank you, Rebekah."

She pauses, giving a quick glance over her shoulder. "That is what family does."

The room grows silent and as the blonde vampire leaves the room, the siblings couldn't help but feel that the dynamic between them had shifted. Even if it was only slightly.
