Clara walks under the brick archway, her arm linked through Klaus'. She looks around the empty courtyard. Klaus catches a glimpse of her confuse look.

"No worries love, the party awaits inside." He states, answering her silent question.

She gives a small nod letting her eyes roam around the area. "Very colonial." She muses.

"One of the oldest building in the quarter, but now is not the time for a history lesson."

"Niklaus." A deep voice calls, bouncing off the old bricks. "It's quite rude to keep your family waiting."

Clara's eyes fall to the figure. A tall, well-built man stands at the edge of the balcony. At his attire, Clara suddenly felt very underdressed. Her jeans and blouse not nearly meeting the standard of his suit. Klaus flashes his a smirk, heading up the stairs.

"My apologizes Elijah, you see I was just out fetching a dinner date. The last thing I would want to do is cause my siblings grief."

Clara bit back her smile at his cocky attitude. Elijah sighs, rest his hand against the rail.

"Yes, well surely that is the last thing you want to do."

"Of course." Klaus states sarcastically.

Clara quickly covers her smile, looking to the ground. After a brief stare down and a moment of silence. Klaus quickly jumps in changing the subject.

"Elijah, Clara Hawthorne, Clara this is my elder brother Elijah." He states introducing the two.

Elijah flashes her a small smile, offering his hand. Clara returns the gesture, grasping his large hand in her small one.

"It's a pleasure to meet you."

Clara nods. "You too."

"It's about bloody time you showed up Nik." A blonde state angrily appearing beside Elijah. "Making us wait for you."

"That would be my fault." Clara begins the blonde's blue eyes snapping to her. "I was difficult to find."

"Who the hell are you."

Elijah's brown eyes look to his sister. "Rebekah this is Clara, our brother's dinner date."

Rebekah looks between the two. "Fantastic." She begins bitterly. "It seems my power-hungry, narcissistic brother has a better dating life then I do."

"Oh please Rebekah, it's a little earlier to start this charade. We haven't even begun dinner yet."

Rebekah rolls her eyes, quickly disappearing. Klaus chuckles look to Elijah, who has a frown on his lips.

"Must you antagonize her?"

"Elijah please, I'm not the one lost in my own pretended little fairytale."

Elijah shakes his head, following after his sister.

"Nice to see that your great attitude translates over into your family life." Clara states calmly following the elder brother. She pauses, turning to face him.

"Although a word of advice. One catches more flies with honey than with vinegar."

Klaus rolls his eyes. "Philosophical now are we?"

Clara shrugs. "I am merely speaking of experience."

She sends him a quick wink turning on her heels. "I believe your family has waited long enough."

Klaus stares after her, a smirk spreading across his lips. After a brief pause, he quickly chases after her, joining her and his siblings in the next room.
