~After School~

"You know Edd, I like the fact every is staring at me, and when I look at them they suddenly aren't? Very subtle guys I'm not blind." Tord mummers to himself, laughing slightly. The three sat on the steeps of the school waiting for Matt, others playing on their phones, or playing some sort of game. "Crap." Tom mutters.
"What is it?" Tord turns his head. "I forgot one of my earrings in science, I'll be right back." Tom puts his bag down and walks back into the school. "Tord, everything has just fallen apart, I don't know what we're going to do, Tom depressed, I'm having whatever is going on with me, and you, um. The problems with Mike, everything! Is Mike a wizard? He was using a magic spell, or was that thing right, anyone can do magic if they have a book."
"Edd, things will fix itself, and I can't explain it. There's more to it than just a book. A wizard makes the wizard, not the book." Tord mumbles hopefully. "Edd. Nothing will be the same I'm not going to lie about that, but things will get better." He looks towards his younger, awaiting the response. "I guess, it's just. I don't know. We've all gotten so far apart. I'm trying, I really am, to keep us together, I don't know what to do about Tom. I don't know what to do with myself."
"Edd. Everything will be fine, I'm fine okay?" Tom opens the door and sits by Edd. "I know. I know." Edd looks down. "Seriously Edd, what happened to the upbeat chipper guy I know." Tom elbows him trying to make him laugh.
"Oh, um, Matt's here." Edd looks up from his phone, text messages from Matt saying that he was here. "Did you forget anything. No spell books, and no earrings?" Tord teases them as they both shake their head 'no.'
"Matt's here, time to go." Edd grabs his and Tord's pack and walk over to Matt's car. Edd and Tord talked a bit, Matt and Tom didn't say a word. When they get home, everyone sits at the table doing homework, Tord on a laptop working on it.
Tom had finished most of his work at lunch, Edd being a grade lower than Tord and Tom, they often ended up help. Today was just different. "Tord, Alex just texted me, I have him my number at lunch, he wanted to know if he could come over."
"I don't know, I guess." Tord mutters. "I'll be in my room." Tom pushes the chair away from the table starting to walk up the stairs. "Okay, I'll tell him." Edd starts texting, Tord finishes up his work, 'turns' it in and closes the laptop. "He said he'll be here in an hour, I sent him our address."
The hour seemed to fly by, Edd finishing his homework, Tom practicing his bass, Tord on his phone. The doorbell rings. "I'll get it." Matt walks over to the door, Edd and Tord following. It's Alex, and his mom, she has blonde hair with bits of grey, pulled back into a bun. "Hello, I am Alex's mother, Ms. Willis."
"I'm Matt, I'm the older brother." Matt smiles. "I'm watching over them since our parents are on a pretty long business trip." He nervously chuckles. "Oh! That's rather kind of you." She shakes Matt's hand. "Hey Alex!" Edd chirps walking up, Tord following him. "Oh, hello. You're Edd and Tord yes?" She looks at Alex to confirm her statement.
"Yes mom." Alex fiddled with his fingers. "Well, Alex call me if you need anything. I will be back in two or so hours to come pick you up." She gives him his phone. "We'll contact you if anything happens." Matt assures her. "Have fun." She waves as she walks to her car, Alex walking into the house. "What do you want to do?" Tord half smiles.
"Well, there's the woods behind us, we can go explore that." Edd shrugs. "That seems cool!" Alex smiles. "Seems like a plan." Edd puts his hands in his hoodie. "Alright! Let's go!" Alex smiles.
The three boys set off into the woods. "There's a bunch of animals in here, Dad and Pa used to take us out here to look at them." Tord slightly chuckles. "Yeah! I remember this one time, you and Tom were like, 13 and I was 11 and that owl jumped out of no where and scared Tom out of his pants!" Edd laughs, remembering the memory.
"So have you guys been living here your whole lives?" Alex looks at the scenery, a huge happy smile on his face. "Yeah, we have been here most our lives." Tord chuckles. "That's awesome! Is that a tree house?" Alex looks up at the rundown tree house in one of the trees.
"Yeah, Pa wouldn't let us play in it anymore after Tom and I got in to a fight and I fell out of it. Surprisingly nothing broke." Tord represses the memory. "Oh. Well-" Alex whips around, hearing a low growling noise. "What was that?"
"Probably just one of the animals, no need to be so jumpy." Tord steps back, scratching his right shoulder. "Don't ask he probably doesn't want to talk about it anyways." Alex mutters under his breath, looking at Tord. "Uh, you okay?" Edd dusts himself off. "I was just going to ask a stupid question." Alex only shrugs it off. "Well we could get to know each other more."
"Well, my name is Edd, I like cola, I have three brothers, and I actually like school." Edd smiles, saying it like he's a Girl Scout introducing herself. "We're doing it like that now are we? I'm Tord, I like anime, I think Tom can be annoying and school sucks." Tord laughs, Edd and Alex joining in as well. "Well, my name is Alex, I like nerdy stuff, I have one brother, and I'm not a fan of school."
They all laugh at how stupid they were acting, smiling. "Okay, okay." Alex laughs. "Let's actually get serious here. We can ask questions or somethin'."
"Alright, you can start it ask some questions." Edd puts his hands in his pockets. "Oh, well. Hmmm! Oh Tord, how annoying is it when people mispronounce your name, like the gym teacher and 'Trod'." Alex smiles. "It's pretty annoying, you have Matt, Tom, Edd, and Trod!" Tord puts his hand under his chin, fluttering his eyes. "Pfff! Okay okay, Edd. Er, does being called Edward bother you? I'm not good at questions."
"Depends on who's saying it. Okay, my question for you is, why did you walk straight up to us? There were a lot of other people around you could've talked with." Edd takes his hand out of his pocket. "I don't know, I just felt like you would be good friends that's all." Alex shrugs his shoulders. "Huh, what was that?" He quickly whips around.
"You're pretty jumpy man, you okay?" Tord turns to Alex. "Yeah, I'm fine it's just- ah!" Alex shoots, what looks to be a bolt of blue magic, and a raccoon that jumped out of nowhere.
"Wait, how'd you do that?" Edd jerks up, half excited, half nervous as all hell. "Do what? I didn't do anything." He puts his hands behind his back. "Alex just tell us what's going on here." Tord looks Alex dead in the eyes.

I really struggled with this chapter, so if it's bad, I'm sorry. I don't know why I had so much trouble with it. And don't worry, there's more Tom coming soon.
