Moana had been Chief for twenty years now. After she and Maui restored the heart of Te Fiti, three years later, they eloped and just five years ago they had a daughter named Makai. Moana was growing older, yet Maui stilled had his playful, youthful look to him.

It was late at night after a very long council meeting, and Moana headed to her hale. To her disappointment, she say some light coming from a little window covered by a tapa mat. She rolled her eyes, knowing Maui had kept Makai up. She entered the hut and heard something coming from a little room.

"Really?" Maui said with an exhausted tone in his voice.

"Please daddy!" Makai begged, "I love the way you play the ukulele." Maui sighed and deep sigh. Then, Moana heard the chords of a ukele playing and Maui's angelic voice fill the air.

A long, long time ago
There was a volcano
Living all alone in the middle of the sea

He sat high above his bay
Watching all the couples play
And wishing he had someone too

And from his lava came a song of hope that he sang
Out loud everyday for years and years

"Wait, daddy?" Makai inquired, "did you write this song?" Maui smiled and nodded.

"What does it mean?"

"I'll tell you afterwards, little minnow," Maui smiles and continued where he left off.

I have a dream
I hope will come true
That your here with me

And I'm here with you

I wish that the earth, sea, and sky up above-a
Will send me someone to lava

...

Years of singing all alone,
Turned his lava into stone
Until he was on the brink of extinction

But little did he know
That in the sea down below
Another volcano was listening to his song

Everyday he heard his tune
And her lava grew and grew
Because she believed the song was meant for her

Now she was ready to meet him above the sea
As he sang his love of hope for the last time...

Maui's voice cracks a bit at the last line, realizing the depth he put into the song.

I have a dream, I hope will come true
That you're here with me, and I'm here with you
I wish that the earth, sea, and sky up above-a
Will send me someone to lava

Moana quietly entered the hut and started to sing in octave with Maui, hitting a higher note than him on each syllable.

Rising from the sea below
Stood a lonely volcano
Looking all around, but she could not see him

He tried to sing to let her know
That's she wasn't all alone
But with no lava, his song was all gone

He filled the sea with his tears
And watched his dreams disappear
As she remembered what
His song meant for her

Maui motioned for Moana to come sit by him and finish her solo part. He continued to strum the chords peacefully as Moana laid her head on his shoulder. Makai came up and sat down on Moana's lap as Moana started singing.

I have a dream, I hope will come true
That your here with me
And I'm here with you
I wish that the earth, sea, and sky up above-a
Will send me someone to lava

Then the small family sang the last verse together, Moana cuddling Makai and leaning onto Maui as he continued playing the ukulele.

Oh they where so happy to meet
Finally up above the sea
All together now their lava grew and grew

No longer all alone,
With aloha as their new home
And when you visit them, this is what they sing:

I have a dream
I hope will come true
That you'll grow old with me
And I'll grow old with you

We thank the earth, sea, the sky we thank too.

I lava you
I lava you
I lava you

He whole family finished on the same note, Maui setting down the ukulele and embracing his small family.

"Daddy?" Makai whispered, yawning, "didn't you say you where going to tell me what the song meant?" Maui smiled and stared lovingly at Makai, then at Moana.

"It means love."
