Darcie sat in the passenger seat of Thane's car, Era sat in the back with Mo's head resting on her lap.  She looked out the windshield in an attempt to lower her anxiety, so many things had gone wrong that she no longer trusted that anything was going to go right.

She looked over at Thane, his hands gripped the steering wheel so tight she thought he might leave an impression in the leather.  He looked over at her for a moment then back at the road, “If you have something to say, say it” he snapped.

Darcie looked out her window, “Nothing” she whispered.

“I know a look when I see it, Darcie, now say whatever is on your mind” he muttered.

“You’re worried” she said shortly.

Thane scoffed, “Mo’s like a brother to me, so yeah, I’m worried” he paused, “He was stabbed by a Scythe Stone’s weapon, they are more powerful and dangerous than a normal weapon...the danger is greater, so if we don’t get to Alex in time...” he stopped.

Darcie sighed.  She hadn’t wanted him to go that far, to remind her this was all her fault, that Mo could die because of her.  “I’m sorry” she whispered.

“That won’t cut it...not this time, Darcie.” Thane scowled.

“Thane!” Era snapped from the back, “It’s not her fault, it’s ours.  We either should have gone with her or taken our time and trained her...at the very least we should have described who is after her”

"And what's that?  Three pale skinned, dark haired teens?  That description could fit a lot of people in this town, Era" he sighed, "We should have been with her...but at the very least she shouldn't have let Trix get a hold of her"

Flush rushed up to Darcie's face as she remember Trix, his warm breath on her face and his lips as they brushed her’s.

"Darcie" Thane said, "What was it?"

Darcie swallowed hard, "Wha...what?"

"What were you go to get when Trix attacked you?" Era explained.

Darcie frowned, "My socks...I left them there"

“Did you get them?” Era asked.

“What does it matter” Thane muttered, “Trix ran and I doubt he’s going to spend time looking for a pair of socks”

“I did get them though” Darcie murmured feeling her damp socks in her pocket up against her phone.

“Good...now Thane” Era said softly, “Do you want me to drive?”

Darcie noticed Thane relax and his grip on the steering wheel loosen, “No.  I’m fine” he said shortly, though Darcie could tell otherwise.

She leaned back in the passenger seat with her head against the window; her eyes closed as she watched the landscape change from a field to woods.  Soon she was asleep.

A medieval church like building made of black, opaque glass stood in front of Darcie.  The light of the moon reflected off the building making it appear almost mystical.  Darcie turned on her heels as a woman landed behind her; the woman had ink black hair, tanned skin, and pale violet eyes.  She wore a dark hooded cloak over a gown of black silk; behind her a pair of dark wings stretched to their full span, they folded elegantly under the woman’s cloak as she hurried forward.

Darcie watched as the woman passed through her alerting Darcie to the realization that she was once again in a vivid dream, or vision, she still wasn’t sure.  The woman stopped in front of the arched doors of the building.
