He frowned at her. "I obviously did. I thought you'd be happy about it. She was being ultra bitchy. She had no right to make me pick, Ambs."

Amber sighed. "Look, I'm flattered that you picked me, Matty but look at how torn up over it you are. You both can't live without each other. What you have is... real. It's irreplaceable."

Matty squeezed her hand. "You got that right. It's only been one night and I feel like I'm going insane but why would she make me pick over you two?"

"Can you blame her for being jealous? I see you more than you see her, Matty. She was just upset," Amber explained. "I don't think she was really thinking straight last night. Something must have triggered all of this, Matty. Something made her want to move in with you right away and something made her insecure about you two. You need to find out."

Matty glanced up at her, his expression softened. "I knew there was something weird about her last night. She's never usually like that."

Amber smiled and stroked his hand. "It'll be fine, Matty. Just talk to her, alright?"

Matty pulled her into a hug. "Thanks, Ambs. You always know what's right."

Amber laughed. "I know. Now drive before I'm late for my lunch date!"

Matty chuckled. "I completely forgot!"

He began to drive. The atmosphere suddenly became considerably lighter. Matty had gone back to normal, though still tired. He teased her about the date, he told her about first time he and Lindsey had gone out, a story that Amber had heard many times. He told her about how much it hurt not to be speaking to her. He told her about how much he loved her and how he had considered proposing so many times before.

Amber wished that she had something like that. She knew that it was rare to find at seventeen. Heck, many people didn't find it at all. She definitely didn't want to end up alone. She wanted a guy that she could love so much that it'd never die. She felt a stab of envy for Matty and Lindsey's relationship but she wished them well.

"We're here," Matty announced as he parked outside of the restaurant.

When the car had completely stopped, Matty jumped out of the car and helped Amber out. He made sure that she was okay to walk in her crutches and heels.

Amber straightened her clothes and frantically fixed her hair. Matty grabbed her hands.

"Relax, Ambs. You look stunning," he told her. "Now, I'll be over at a mate's house who lives nearby. Just give me a call when you're ready to be picked up, alright?"

Amber nodded distractedly. She looked around the doors of the restaurant, hoping for any sign of Alex.

Matty kissed her cheek. "You might want to go in."

"Alright, see you later." Amber told him as she walked towards the restaurant.

Amber walked to the doors of the restaurant and took a deep breath. She glanced up at the place.

Le Chef Graisses was the fanciest place in town. Amber had only been to the restaurant twice although she had grown up in the very town. It stood out in the average town with its gleaming golden lettering and its marble columns in the front.

The doorman opened the door for her as she stepped in. He eyed her crutches in a disapproving way, making Amber feel slightly insecure. She scanned the place for any sign of Alex. She couldn't see him anywhere at any of the crowded tables.

"Hello, Miss. Can I get you a table?" A man asked.

He wore the uniform to the restaurant and stood behind a wooden podium.
