The Story of Tonight

Amy's POV
It was getting reasonably quiet now. We weren't to busy. I decided to grab my pad of paper and a pen and walk over to one of the booth.
"Hey. What can I get you guys?" I asked the couple at the table.
"Oh Hey Amy. Looks like we keep bumping into each other." Vanessa chuckled and I giggled. "I guess so."
"I'll get a bagel with cream cheese and a medium soy latte." Vanessa said rocking her son in her hands and looked at her husband who was clearly busy writing something down, which seems important. He was humming to himself a well. A tune of sorts.
"I'll get the usual." Lin said to his wife and she rolled her eyes.
"Lin would like a large latte, double shot, and two slices of banana bread and we'll also get two cupcake for takeaway, what do you suggest?" She asked me as I took the menus away.
"Oh the triple chocolate cupcakes are very popular, but they are very rich. We have matcha green, lemon, vanilla, strawberry, French vanilla, apple and cinnamon and our special cupcake of the week is pumpkin spice." I smiled.
"Oh I'll get one of those and an apple and cinnamon one." She smiled.
"Does the little man want anything?" I joked waving at her little baby. She laughed and I walked off to give the barista the order. Another waitress gave Vanessa and her husband their order as I was busy washing some dishes in the kitchen.

"Hey Maria, has Lily come back yet?" I asked Maria. Her daughter Lily has been studying a Business degree in Michigan. She is meant to be coming back home soon.
"Yeah she flew in a three am last night." Maria smiled. "I'm going to be making a paella, you must come back after work to have some. I know it's your favourite." She smiled at me and pinched my cheek.
"Maybe. If I have time." I smiled. Maria was like a grandmother to me. I never really had a female figure in my life. Maria was so welcoming and would also have her arms open to hear about any problems I had and would help tutor me. "I've got a bit of homework, but I'll try and persuade my father to allow me to visit you. You know how he is." I sighed.
"He just wants the best for you Amy." She smiled and grabbed the dry dishes off the rack.
"I know." I said and turned back to go back to the front counter. I am currently studying a Degree in Event Organising at New York University.

Once it turned 4:30, I was allowed to go home. I walked my feet my up steps of the apartment and unlocked the door to the apartment.
"Amy's home!" Charlie squealed running toward the door and hugging my legs. "Did you bring any cupcakes home?" She said tugging on my uniform. As a three year old, she defiantly as her priories set.
"No I didn't. Sorry Charls. We ran out." I smiled bending down to her knee level.
"Can we go play with my dolls then?" She begged.
"Charlie. She just got home, give your sister some time to sit now." My dad laughed.
"No no. It's fine." I said and walked into the lounge room with my sister by my side. "Dad. Yell out if you need my help with dinner." I said picking up one of Charlie's dolls.

The next day, I woke up alone with my dog Rosco lying on my bed. I rubbed my eyes looking at the time. It was 8:20. I didn't have work today, but I had to be at University at 2:00 for a meeting. I think they wanna discuss my grades and my work life balance and where I can get a job. I'm in second year at Uni. My grades have been pretty good so far. I rolled over and got out of bed. I quickly got changed into my shorts and tank top, grabbed a cap and slid on my runners and grabbed the leash. "Come on Rosco. Wanna come for a walk?" I smiled tapping my thigh and he would run over. I clipped the leash on her collar and left the apartment with a bottle of water and banana in hand.

"Oh Amy dear." Vanessa smiled. "It's so good to see you again." She smiled and I laughed.
"We saw each other yesterday."
"I know." She said and her dog ran towards Rosco.
"Sorry about him." She said to me. "Tobillo. Sit." She said and he sat. I noticed that she she wasn't sweaty or anything.
"Would you like to walk with me? I could show you around this part of town." I smiled.
"Oh that would be wonderful." She smiled and we began to walk outside. After about twenty minutes of walking, we took a stop near the Public Theatre. We both took a seat at a bench.
"So this is where the Public Theatre is." She smiled. Only about 12 blocks away." She said giving a treat to her dog.
"Yeah. Why? Have you been looking for it?" I asked her.
"No no. My husband, Lin, who you met yesterday, he has a show coming here in a weeks time." She smiled. "His a playwright. He wrote a musical about Alexander Hamilton. You know, the guy on the ten dollar bill. That's why he wasn't in the mood yesterday when we went to the coffee shop you work at. He was busy making last minute touches to the musical. He wants to make it perfect." She smiled, boasting about her husband.
"Wow. Sounds...uh...cool?" I said a little confused. A musical about Alexander Hamilton? That should be fun.
"Oh yeah. You should come down one day and see a rehearsal or something. The first show is in two weeks time." She smiled as we got back up to continue our walk. "So, Amy. You know a bit about my husband and I. What about you?" She asked me.
"Oh uhm. My life's not that exciting." I smiled at her.
"I'm sure it this." She said.
"Well, there's me, Charlie and my father, I'm currently in my second year of University. I uhm, I work at the bakery, but I'm looking around for other jobs, you know, do to with Event Organisng. That's my passion." I smiled.
"Are you single?" She asked me.
"Yeah. I am." I shrugged. Due to the fact that I have to look after my sister a lot, I can never go out to parties or anything. By the time we had finished our conversation, our walk had finished. We exchanged numbers just incase something was to happen, and she also gave me her spare key. Again, just incase. She claimed that her husband is so busy, he tends to forget things.
"I'll see you around Vanessa." I waved going back into my apartment. I needed to get ready for University. We had actually walked to two hours.
