Chapter Twenty:

Cecilia's POV:

It was about six thirty and Caleb and I were just hanging out. Caleb had grasped a one pound dumbbell in his hand. He yelled as he held it up and I couldn't help but laugh. He threw it down onto the turf and clapped.

"You're so strong. High-five." I said holding up my hand. He laughed and ran over and slapped my hand. I had ordered simple gym bags to hand out for registration and I was placing an order for more.

As I wrote numbers down there was a tapping on the garage door. Thinking it was Caleb I stood up abruptly but it wasn't Caleb.

Caleb was over building a tower with the foam rollers.

"Max." I stated. He had on a pair of shorts and a hoodie. It wasn't too cold outside.

"Hey." He said stuffing his hands into his pockets. I picked up my clipboard that I had thrown onto the ground and I set it on the piece of workout equipment I was sitting on. When I stood back up there was a large thud and Caleb did a victory cry as the foam tower knocked down. Max laughed as did I and Caleb only picked up the rollers and stacked them again.

"How are you? Y-you look...great." Max said nervously. He only met my eyes briefly and I couldn't help but smile at how nervous he was. He was twenty-six now and I was nineteen.

"I'm fine, Max and thank-you. How are you? How is soccer?' I asked and he shrugged.

"I haven't been playing that well." He said scratching the back of his neck.

"I have heard." I teased while laughing a little. He smiled and glanced around.

"The place looks great." He said and I glanced around.

"Thanks, I had a couple people sign up today and hopefully more each day." I smiled.

"It looks awesome, seriously good job." He smiled while walking around.

"Caleb come here." I said. Caleb dropped the foam roller and ran over. He had on black sweatpants and a burgundy sweater. I scooped him up and he sat in my arms contently.

Max stood a few feet away from me. He was still nervous and it was cute.

"Caleb you know who this is?" I asked while walking towards Max. He stopped picking at my hair and he looked right at Max.

It was silent for a few moments before he tossed his head onto my shoulder cheekily. I laughed and rubbed the top of his head and Max smiled happily.

"That's daddy, Caleb." I said and out of the corner of my eye Max's eyes widened slightly and a large grin appeared on his face. Caleb held out his arms towards Max and I held him towards Max and he took him into his arms. He stared at Max for a few seconds before dropping his head onto his shoulder.

"Say night, night." I laughed as he remained curled up in Max's arms. I smiled and picked up my clipboard, I had to finish this so I could send it off tomorrow morning.

"Ce..." Max began and I looked up at him.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

"Are we going to act like nothing happened?" He asked confused.

"Max what's done is done. I understand that you were upset because you cheated on Katherine and I was upset because I had sex with my best friends' dad, but I don't regret it a bit. What if I didn't tell you that I liked you? Caleb wouldn't be here and I can't imagine life without him." I said and he glanced at Caleb who was sitting contently in his arms and chewing on the drawstring of Max's hoodie. Caleb was at that age where he put everything in his mouth.

"But the things I said to you, like telling you to stay away from me, I shouldn't have said those things and I am so sorry." He said.

"Heat of the moment, yea you hurt me by what you said and while I was in Alaska I realized that I would have done the same thing if I was you. Life is too short to hold grudges. I just thought you were disappointed in me or you looked at me and thought I was a slut or something. I spent years trying to impress you and I thought that I was just a hump and dump to you." I said honestly.

"Cecilia I never thought about you like that. I tried calling, I left voice mails I-" I stopped him and smiled.

"I know. I wasn't ready to talk to you because I was afraid of what you might say. I didn't want to put any stress on Caleb and when Stella visited me, she told me you moved on and I didn't want to disrupt anything." I said.

"But I didn't move on. I dated Emily for a few months before I couldn't take it anymore. She is nothing like you. Hell you and Caleb have been my lock screen for so long." He said taking out his phone. I looked at the picture of me holding Caleb in my arms and I smiled.

"I'm sorry Max. It wasn't right, keeping you from Caleb. I hope you can forgive me." I said.

"Forgive you? You should be forgiving me. All the stuff I did to you. I am so sorry." He said and I laughed.

"How about we start over?" I asked and he raised an eyebrow. I set down my clipboard and took out my hair, fluffing it out. I turned and put on a seductive face which he laughed.

"I'm Cecilia Johnson and I have been in love with you for five years. My birthday is March third and I love lacrosse and pizza. Working out is my favourite thing to do and opening my own gym has been a dream of mine since I was a little girl. I have the cutest son in the world named Caleb who happens to be your son. I am insanely sarcastic and I laugh at my own jokes. Nice to meet you." I said and Max began laughing.

"I'm Maxwell Andrews but everyone calls me Max. I have thought you were hot since you were seventeen and I realized last year that I was utterly and completely in love with you. I love soccer and I also love pizza. Since I was a young boy I wanted to play professional soccer. I also have the cutest son in the world who I can't wait to see everyday- if you will have me. I am stubborn and sometimes I have a fuck boy side. Nice to meet you, doll." He said and I laughed as well.

"I have to get Caleb home. I open at eight-thirty tomorrow if you want to stop by? I'm pretty sure people would love to see an all-star here." I offered while placing the clipboard in my office. I grabbed my bag and keys and we walked outside. I pulled down both garages and locked them and Max walked me to my car. I had a used Honda Civic and right next to it was Max's Porsche.

"Nice wheels." I noted and he shrugged.

"It's alright. I was thinking...maybe we could go out for dinner tomorrow night. Just me and you?" He asked hesitantly and I smiled.

"I would love that." I said opening the door to reveal Caleb's car seat.

"Mommy." He smiled holding out for me. I took him and Max smiled as I placed him in his car seat.

"Say bye to daddy?" I asked Caleb while waving.

"Bye." He said while waving his hand awkwardly.

"See ya buddy." Max smiled.
