"See you in a minute," he told her, hanging up.

Amber shoved her phone into her pocket and hopped over to her wardrobe. She picked out a button up dress since it was still hard to wear trousers. The wound in her thigh had been stitched up but it was still sore and ached when she strained it. It annoyed Amber more than anything that she couldn't do things for herself. She was so used to being independent that she had forgotten what it was like to depend on others.

She pulled on her yellow sundress and simple, yellow dolly shoes. She decided to take a cardigan, deciding that the wind would soon be picking up. She hobbled down the stairs with some difficulty.

Mr Riley seemed to have heard her from the living room. He emerged at the bottom of the stairs and sighed.

"You alright, kid? Need some help?" He offered.

Amber shook her head and managed to take another step. Her right crutch got caught on the banister and she let out a loud shriek of frustration.

"Oh for goodness' sake!" She yelled.

Mr Riley hurried up the stairs and pulled her crutch out of the gap in the railing. He grabbed one of her arms and provided more support as she hopped down the stairs.

"Thanks." She sighed as they reached the bottom step.

"No problem, kiddo," he looked her up and down. "Going somewhere?"

Amber nodded, fixing her long hair. "Matty's driving me to the forest."

Mr Riley stared at Amber, looking as though he was stopping himself from saying something.

"What?" She asked curiously.

"I don't want you to go," he stated.

"What? Why?" She questioned.

"It was that ruddy forest that got you into this mess in the first place," he answered, sighing, "and anyway, you should be resting."

Amber rolled her eyes. "Dad, we've been over this. I fainted because of the lack of sleep and thanks to you, I've rested so much that I've forgotten what the sun looks like."

Okay, so maybe she was exaggerating a bit but he had made her stay at home for three whole days. It was driving Amber insane.

Mr Riley sighed, clearly defeated. "Alright, go but be careful."

Amber rolled her eyes again. "I will. Now you go and watch some football."

Mr Riley laughed. "Don't mind if I do; Spurs are playing tonight."

Amber laughed and watched as he walked back to the living room.

She was momentarily distracted by the shrill ring of the doorbell. It took Amber a while, but she managed to open the door. Matty turned with a wide grin on his face.

Matty was a giant. He was insanely tall at six foot four inches and his biceps bulged in his shirt. He towered over Amber's petite figure.

"Amber!" He grabbed her arms and pulled her into a bone-breaking bear hug.

Amber dropped her crutches with a clatter, making Matty jump and release her.

"Sorry!" He reached over and picked up her crutches as she held onto his thick arms for balance.

Amber held onto her crutches, grinning at Matty. He had always been this clumsy.

"You've got a tan!" She exclaimed, examining his perfectly tanned skin.

"Spain was awesome," he told her, placing an arm around her small shoulders. "Come on, I'll tell you more on the way."

He helped her into his shabby orange car.
