First Date

Steve's POV
I woke up to a sharp pain on my face,back,and stomach. It hurt to move. I think he broke a few of my ribs. I looked in the mirror and saw the cut by my eye. Even though I was in pain I couldn't help but smile because tonight is mine and Shelby's first date. Dad didn't hit my face so there wasn't any bruises on my face, thank goodness. I took a quick shower and got dressed in my DX shirt and jeans. I packed a good blue button up shirt and a nice pair of jeans to change into later. I also packed stuff for tonight and tomorrow because I'm staying at the Curtis house tonight. I sat down on my bed to put my shoes on when I heard a knock on my door. I saw my dad step in. He looked at my face and shook his head.
"Hey bud, I'm sorry about last night." He apologized.
"It's fine dad." But it wasn't fine your not suppose to hurt your kid like that.
"Here, take this. I hope you can forgive me." He said handing me $20. I was in shock. He's never givin me this much before.
"Thanks dad. I'm stayin at the Curtis house tonight with Soda."
"Ok, be careful." Him telling me to be careful. He doesn't care about me. He just wants to put on a show.
"I will dad. Bye"
"Bye son."

I drove to the Curtis house to wait for Soda and Darry. I walked in and the whole gang stared at my face. Even Pony looked worried.
"What?" I asked knowing what they were looking at. Soda walked up to me and touched my cheek. I flinched because of the pain.
"Did he do this to you Steve?" He questioned.
"Who?"
"Your dad Steve. This is the worst he's done." He said as lifted up my shirt to reveal the bruises on my back and stomach. I saw the tears in his eyes, but he held them back.
"Steve what happened?" He asked sympathetically.
"When I got home dad was drunk. He asked where I'd been, I told him. He said next time to tell him I'd be out late.He got up to give me a lesson. He punched me but not hard enough to leave a bruise. He pushed me against the wall. He started kicking and hittin me. Then he pulled out a blade and cut me. Then he kicked and hit me a few more times and told me to go to my room."
Soda just hugged me. I had to pull away because it hurt so bad. Soda could tell because he told the gang "Tomorrow we're all goin to Steve's house with him to pack his stuff and he's movin in with us." They nodded.
"Soda, yall don't have to do that, I'll be fine." I told him
Darry spoke up "Steve's, he's not gonna hurt you any more and I'll see to it. You're movin in with us."
"Thanks Darry." I said.
"We better get goin or we'll be late for work. Dally, just stay out of trouble well ya." Darry ordered.
"Ok" we said. Except for Dally he just smirked and said "I'm gonna go visit Skylar."
"Hey Darry, me, Pone, and Johnnycakes are gonna go to the Dingo and then go watch a movie or somethin." Two-Bit said.
"Ok, be careful." Darry replied.

With that we walked outside to go to work. I drove separately so I could take Shelby out. I pulled into the DX smiling. I went inside and set down to wait for opening time. I couldn't help but moan from the pain. Soda noticed cause he walked over to me and said "Take it easy today ok."
"Ok soda, but I'm fine."
"When I said take it easy I meant with Shelby." He laughed.
"Shut up." I said playfully punching his arm. He just laughed, but I didn't cause it really hurt.
"Hey soda."I said.
"Huh."
"Take it easy with Leah."
He just chuckled and said "I don't know how to take it easy bud." I just laughed at him. It was time to open up so I got to work. Which was really painful.



Shelby's POV
I woke up to Leah shaking me saying "I'm hungry and you're the best cook I know."
"Fine, I'm gettin up." I jumped up and remembered I have a date with Steve. I took a shower and threw on my gray sweat pants, my shirt that said Country girls ride Country boys, and threw my hair up in a bun and ran downstairs to cook breakfast.
"What do yall want to eat?"I asked.
"Chocolate chip pancakes, sausage, eggs, and bacon!" They all yelled.
"Ok. I'll start cookin." What a demanding group.

I finished cooking and everyone devoured the food. Timber and Lauren did the dishes. So I ran upstairs to get ready. I looked at the clock and it said 9:00 a.m.
Ugh it's not even close to 4:00. Oh well, I'm gonna get ready any way. I went to my closet to pick out what to wear. I picked out a pair of skinny jeans but they aren't to skinny and my favorite turquoise shirt with a pink heart on it that said love. I wore my favorite pink bobs that match the shirt. I had little gold ear rings shaped like hearts and a necklace to match. I quickly got dressed and fixed my hair, I just left it down and natural. I put on a touch of make-up cause I don't really like make-up. I was finally finished and looked in the mirror. Perfect!!!! I checked the clock and it said 12:30. Ugh, can't time speed up! I miss Steve!! I walked downstairs and turned own Mickey Mouse. I love Mickey Mouse. We all just sat their so i decided to make a chocolate cake. My 5 favorite things are Steve, Mickey, Chocolate cake, Pepsi, and chocolate milk. In that order. Fighting is my 6th favorite thing along with my friends. We just ate chocolate cake and watched Mickey Mouse.

I checked the clock and it said 3:37. Yah time to go. "Greg, come on let's go to the DX." I said getting up off the floor.
Greg groaned "Ok, let's go." Yah!! We walked to Greg's truck and got in.
It was silent for a while. Then Greg said "Shelby, I know I'm hard on you but please understand I just care about you and I don't want you gettin hurt. You're my baby sister and I love you."
"Greg I understand and I love you too. You're my big brother. I care about you too."
"Just please be careful. Remember, you don't have to worry cause I'll kick anyone's ass who even thinks about touching you."
I kinda chuckled "Yeah I know. Steve knows too." When I said that he grinned and looked proud of his self.

I pulled up to the DX at 3:55. I got out and so did Greg. We walked in and found some girl flirting with Steve, he didn't look interested so I took advantage of it.
I walked up to Soda and played with his hair and flirted with him.
"You're kinda cute." I said and winked at him. He smiled and winked back.
"Well babe you're pretty hot yourself." He said pulling me closer to him.
"Aww you're sweet to." I cooed playfully.
"Since I'm sweet and cute why don't you give me a little kiss on the cheek." He joked.
"Ok." I went to kiss his cheek but Steve butted in sayin "Ok stop, that's enough. Soda leave my girl alone." Me and Soda laughed. But I stopped as soon as saw his face. I looked at him and grabbed his face and turned his right cheek towards me.
"Steve what happened." I said concerned.
"It's nothing Shelby just a scratch."
"Whatever I've seen a cut by a blade and that's one."
"Shelby don't worry I took care of it " Soda reassured me.
"Ok, are you ready." I said.
"Let me change real fast." He said.
"Ok do you need help?" I smirked.
"Maybe next time." He joked. I forgot about Greg standing there so I turned around real slow and to my surprise he was smiling at us. What's wrong with Greg?!

Steve went to change so I asked Greg why he was smiling.
He said "Because my baby girl's happy." I hugged him.
"I am Greg. I really am."
"I better go. Call me if you need me."
"Ok, I will bye."
"Bye."

Steve finally came out and he looked hot.
"Ready to go?" He asked
"Yeah, let's go."
"Don't have to much fun guys!" Soda laughed.
"Shut up Soda." Steve answered. But I'm a smart ass so I said "No promises, but if we do we'll send you a picture." Soda was literally rolling on the floor. He finally caught his breath and heaved "She's a keeper Steve."
"I know." Steve said making me blush.

We left the DX and headed to wherever we were going. I held Steve's hand and said "So I'm your girl huh."
"Only if you want to be."He smirked.
"Maybe I do."
"Well consider yourself my girl."
"On one condition."
"What's that?"
"Don't let anyone hurt you anymore. I can't stand seein you hurt." I pleaded.
"I'll do my best babe."
"Babe? What other names do you have for me?"
"Babe, sweetheart,hone, sweetie, honey, sexy, mine, and I'll think of more." He smirked
"You do that."

We pulled up to the Dingo and went in. We ordered burgers and curly fries with a Pepsi. For dessert we shared a banana split. When we finished eating we went to the drive-in and watch some beach movie. Well we didn't watch most of it.
"Shelby I hardly know you. What do like to do?"
"Playing football, basketball, track, softball. I love to sing, hang out with my friends, and to work on cars. I really enjoy fighting."
"You sound like a pretty tough girl."
"Yeah but I like reading, writing, and I love watching sunsets so that kinda takes away the tough part huh."
"No It doesn't. Just because you like doing stuff like that doesn't mean you're not tough."
"Enough about me. What do like to do?"
"I like workin on cars, football, hangin with my buds, fighting, and you." He smirked.
"Oh really" I said sarcastically.
"Yeah, but there's one problem?"
"What?"
"I haven't done you......yet."
"Hm, how do we fix that."
"I know how, but I can't."
"And why not?"
"Because I'm still a little sore from last night."
"Steve what really happened last night?"
He kinda hesitated but then he said "When I came home my dad was drunk again and he beat me again but this time it was the worst."
"Oh Steve, please stay away from him. I know that's hard to ask but I can't stand seein you hurt."
"I'm movin in with Sodapop, Ponyboy, and Darry."
"Good." I said hugging his neck. He winced so I pulled back.
"Where does it?"
'Everywhere." He moaned.
"I'm training to be a doctor so let me see, please."
"It's fine babe."
"Please." I begged
"Fine. I can't say no to you." I kisses his cheek than took off his shirt. If only I could be taking off his shirt for some other reason.
"Oh my god Steve, you poor baby."
"Baby huh."
"Shut up." I felt for broken ribs. He had 4 broken and 2 fractured ribs. As I felt he moaned.
"Was that because of the pain?" I smirked.
"Nope." He replied. I kind chuckled.
"Well you have 4 broken ribs and 2 fractured."
"Great." He said sarcastically.
"Here put your shirt back on." I demanded.
"Yes babe."
"Since you don't mind." He said. Then kissed me. We made out forever. When we looked up the theater was abandoned and the show was over.
"We better get home." He said.
"You're stayin at the Curtis house right?"
"Yeah sweetie. Why?"
"I'm stayin with you."
"What?! I want you to, I really want you to but Greg won't like that very much. Soda will take care of me."
"I wasn't asking for permission Steve. My mind is made up. Drop me off at my house and I'll grab my clothes then we'll go to the Curtis house ok."
"Whatever you say babe." I just smirked.

We drove home and I ran in. I told Greg my plans.
"Ok, but Darry better call me when you get there."
"Yes, Greg." With that I walked out to Steve's truck and we drive to the Curtis house next door.

We walked in and it was just the Curtis brothers.
"Hey Shelby. What are doing here?" Soda questioned.
"Well, Steve has 4 broken ribs and 2 fractured ones so I'm stayin with him if that's ok."
"It's fines."Darry said.
"How did you know about his ribs"Pony asked,
"I'm training to be a doctor."
"Oh but aren't you 16?"
"Yeah but I skipped a few grades."
"Me too."
"Darry can you call Greg I promised you would?"
"Yeah, no problem."
"Thanks."

Me and Steve settled on the couch. Steve had his arms around me. He was so strong and I wanted to stay like this forever.
"Shelby."
"What?"
"I love you."
"I love you to."
"Goodnight babe."
"Goodnight Steve."
