She stood there,

In that field of wildflowers,

Her hair blowing in the faint breeze,

A gentle smile on her face.

"Are you okay?"

I nodded,

Tears still welling up in my eyes,

A smile so wide on my face

As I realized,

For the first time,

How much I really cared for her.

I love you

I whispered,

And watched as the smile on her face grew.

"I knew that silly"

"I love you too"

Her arms circled me,

And I clung to her,

My tears never drying up,

As we sunk to the ground.

She held me in her arms,

Rubbing my back

As all the sorrow and pain finally melted away.

I was afraid

My voice shook.

"I know"

I thought something was wrong with me

Her arms loosened from around me

And she slowly took my face in her hands,

Her shining green eyes held mine for a moment

Before she placed her forehead on mine,

And our eyes shut.

"There is nothing wrong with who we are"

"Our love is perfect and beautiful and true"

Our eyes drifted open for a brief second

Before we leaned forward and her soft lips touched mine.

I love you

We whispered to each other,

Our hearts racing and our breaths coming out in puffs,

As we unlocked.

We lay down in that field of wildflowers,

Holding each other in our arms,

As we whispered sweet words for hours and hours,

And our hearts beat together.

I love you
