Chapter 21

Your P.O.V

"Heyo" Matt greeted as he walked in. "Oh hey miss Y/L"

"Hi Matt" my mom smiled with a cup of coffee in her hand

"When did you get here?"

"Last night. Feel free to join us for breakfast" My mom said getting out an extra plate

Matt took a seat next to me and ate whatever he could. The morning passed with small talk and washing up some dishes

"I'm gonna shower and head to work I'll see you in the afternoon" mom said to me

"That's if I'm here. It's Saturday I gotta turn up"

My mom rolled her eyes and headed to the bathroom

"Alright let's go" I said to Matt

"Go where?" He asked

"Wherever" I said grabbing my phone and slipping it into my pocket

...

Matt and I decided to just go to the beach and relax with a couple of ciders

"You two have been a lot closer than before" Matt said referring to Lauren

I was debating on whether or not I should tell him about the kiss. But that would just result into him concluding that I have feelings for Lauren which is why I kissed her and then I'll say that it was just in the moment but he wouldn't believe me and so on...so I'd rather not

"Didn't you go to that party with her and one of her friend's?"

"Yeah yesterday"

"How'd it go?"

"It was good until my mom showed up"

"She's trying to get on good terms. Give her the chance alright"

"I don't know why she's bothering if she's just gonna leave in a couple of days"

"Well, she loves you"

"Yeah okay" I laughed sarcastically

"Alright let's go before we get burned" Matt said getting up

I extended my hand out so he could pick me up and we grabbed our bottles to throw away

"Hey there's Jauregui" Matt said tapping my shoulder

That brought a smile to my face because I've gotten used to being around her and I guess I lowkey missed her

I turned around to get a glimpse but my smile turned upside down when I saw her in the ice cream parlour holding a girl's hand and laughing her heart away

"Who's that?" Matt asked

It did sting a little but I kept my guard, "don't know, don't care"

"They seem pretty close"

"Yeah good for her. Let's go"

"You like her don't you?" Matt asked which made me stop in my tracks

"The fuck?"

"I know about the kiss"

I rolled my eyes and folded my arms and gave Matt a questioning look so he would continue

He put his hands in his pocket and then started to talk

"After she left your place last night she called me up telling me what happened and that I should check up on you. I figured with your mom back you must've been quite annoyed so I suggested we do something today"

"Thank you that's sweet of you" I said unfolding my arms and heading to the car door

"Wait, um the kiss. You don't just kiss people Y/N. You don't even do that on one night stands so if you kissed Lauren and initiated it first then don't you think you chose to act on your feelings?"

Ah there it is. Typical Matt.

"It's not that big of a deal as you're making it"

"Yeah it is. I've been wanting you to find someone who'd get you back on track since day one of all this bullshit and I know Lauren is that person who can do that and I know you know that too"

"Just let it go Matt" I said and got into the car

Later that evening I took a drive to Lauren's. She hasn't called or texted since last night which is unusual of her. If talking about it is what she needs then I'll do that for her just so that things could go back to normal

I stopped in front of her door and took a deep breath in before knocking

She opened the door and I heard her music playing really loudly from the living room

"Hey" She said opening the door wider. "You good?"

"Yeah I just wanted to tal-"

"Is that the pizza guy?" A tall girl came out with one of Lauren's oversized teaching shirts and she was drying her hair with a towel. Looks like the same girl from the parlour

"No it's a friend" Lauren said

"Hi I'm Lucy. Nice to meet you" She said shaking my hand

"Y/N"

"I'm gonna go clean up the bathroom. Have fun" Lucy said and walked off

"What is it Y/N?" Lauren asked with a questioning look

"Nothing" I managed to get out and ran back to my car

I have to get to Colton A.S.A.P.
