"Lesson learned." James says as he rises from the ground.

"Now let's get your nose looked at." I say leading him to the bathroom once inside.

I wipe off all the dried, crusty blood surrounding his nose. The bleeding stopped, but a nasty bruise was building.

"Just great. My face ruined." says James as he views himself in the mirror.

"It's not the bad. And it's only temporary. Can we get back to the party?" I ask.

"Yeah, yeah. I have to give you your present first!"

"You didn't have to give me anything, James." I say as we walk out of the bathroom and sit on te stairwell.

"That's what everyone says when it's their birthday. It's a code for 'get me something or you won't be invited back," James says.

"Not in my case."

"Whatever. So I can't really compete with preppy boy's motorcycle, but...here." he says.

"A donut making machine." I say trying not to drool at the mechanism information. Whoever invented this was pure genius!

"I know you’re on that whole diet thing. Sort of. Well you’re supposed to be. I’m just saying that you look perfect the way you are. I wouldn't change a thing about you." he says and I can tell he means what he says as I look into his beautiful eyes. He pulls back a strand of my hair and leans in to kiss me. Just one simple peck and he has my heart beating at a hundred kilometers per hour. He smiles at me and my lips turn upward.

"Wow. That's it? Pathetic." says a familiar voice.

"Alexx!" I scream coming up to hug her.

"Happy birthday!" she says dropping her satchel on the ground and returning the hug. She hands me a present and I set it down.

"Why are you here?" I ask.

"Did you seriously think I was going to miss my best friends surprise brthday party? Uh HELL to the NO!"

"I wasn't sure. You seemed pretty upset." I say.

"James can you leave for a second?" Alexx asks.

"Yeah sure. I'll put your gift with the rest of them." says James grabbing the wrapped present.

"Thanks darling." I say.

Alexx talks as soon as James has descended the stairs. "She told me."

"Huh?" I asked confused.

"Amber told me!"

"Told you what?" I ask still confused.

"She told me she was pregnant!" says Alexx loudly.

"Aah, childbirth a glorious thing." says my mom walking past to the laundry room with a basket full of dirty clothing.

Alexx and I giggle.

"Oh so that's why you came after all?" I clarified.

"No. I would've came anyways."

"Oh okay."

"So now I get why you're friends with her, but just know, I still despise her. With a passion."

"She’ll grow on ya."

"Highly unlikely."

"So we’re okay now?" I ask.

"Better than ever." she says smiling and giving me another hug.

"Shall we get back to the party downstairs I asked.

"We shall." Alexx replys.

We walk to the basement together.

"There you are!" says Cassie.

"Where have you been?" asks Lily.

"Come on!" says Foster.

"Lehgoo!" says Danny.

"It's cake time and I like my cake." says Jay.

"Agreed." says Danny and Foster.

"Oh. Hey Alexx." says Jag noticing his girlfriend was here.

"Hey!" says Alexx pecking him on the lips.

"Make way! Make way! Here comes the cake!" says my mom as she barges down the stairs with a large white and pink cake in her hands.

"Lookin good Addison’s mom." says James rubbing his hands together in delight. Everyone stares at him and it turns silent. "oh I didn't mean you ma'am. I meant the cake. Not that you don't look good. You look good too. Not in a creepy I-like-older-women kind of way. I mean..."

"James. All is understood." says my mother and James blushes. I can't help but laugh. My mom places the cake on a table and lights the candles. I think you can guess what happens next.

"Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday to Addison, happy birthday to you!" everyone sings and I blow out the candles.

"What'd you wish for?" asks Cassie.

"I can't tell you or it wouldn't come true." I say.

My mom starts to cut the cake and pass pieces out to everyone. Of course, Jay snatches the very first piece, a corner one with lots of icing.

"Guys, I think we all know what she wished for," James says. "Me." he says pointing to himself.

"Not quite." I said giggling. Truth is, I wished for nothing. Everything is perfect the way it is.

"See you guys. I'm gonna leave now." says my mom heading back upstairs.

After I eat my piece of cake, I head over to the karoke machine. I sing some with Foster.

When I finish singing, I notice the crowd has slowly begun to deminish. Checking the time, I realize that it is very late and I'm starting to get tired.

I want to go to sleep right then and there, but that would be rude to my guests. Lucky for me, everyone leaves within the next hour except for my best girl friends.

"Can we just sleepover?" asks Lily.

"Yeah. You have your stuff from last time." I say.

"I'm gonna leave now because my stuff isn't even here. See you tomorrow girls."

"Bye!” says Alexx clearly happy to have Amber gone.

"Hey, wait. You can stay. I have an extra pair of pajamas and an unopened

Toothbrush you could use." I tell Amber.

"You sure?" asks Amber.

"No. She's not. Please leave." says Alexx.

"You can stay as long as you'd like." I tell Amber.

We get changed into our pjs and lay out some blankets on the ground in my room.

"I called a cleaning service for tomorrow by the way. The basement  is an absolute wreck." days Lily.

"Thanks!" I say already drifting asleep.

The next thing I know, I have drifted off into dreamland.
