Chapter 59 : The wills of the dead

(A/N : Gomen for the insane delay in updating the story. University exams are truly to be feared. Not only do they leave you with minuscule free time, they also wipe away every other thought. But finally I am back with a new update...hopefully, I shall be more regular from now on.

Akame P.O.V

It was comfortable...so comfortable here...

A soothing lullaby of silence played on. I was tired...so tired that this respite felt welcoming. I sighed as I recalled the final moments before my death.

Kakashi-sensei was nearly dead. Even if Pain's Shinra Tensei (Almighty Push) didn't finish him off, chakra exhaustion surely would have. Thank goodness I was able to use my Ice Empress mode in the nick of time.

Well...what do you expect? I knew from the very beginning that it would be so hard to create ginormous (gigantic + enormous) Ice structures out of water vapour at a moment's notice.

Perhaps I was getting complacent. Maybe...I need training as well.

Oh well...it was too late to think about it now because...

I AM DEAD!

Sigh...I couldn't help but sigh in sadness. If only heaven really existed...then I would have been able to meet Tatsumi and the other deceased members of the night raid...

"Akame...do you want to meet us so badly?"

Huh?

Did I just...hear someone's voice? Who did this voice belong to? It sounds so...nostalgic.

"I won't forgive you if you use your death to shirk away from your responsibilities you know!"

I nearly shrieked out when I saw what I had been lying on. I...thought I was floating in water but...water won't be so stick, smell so metallic or...have such an eerie scarlet color.

I...I was floating on a sea of blood!

"Why are you scared? It's the blood of all those you killed uptil now. You are the one who created this. Why are you scared now?"

I...I know I killed a lot of people when I was under the Imperial Army with Kurome and...killed a whole lot more people after joining the Revolutionary Army and Night Raid. So...why am I shaking now?

Leone: Nee Akame, are you still alive?
