{Chapter 3: Memory Lane is The Best Lane}
"Somebody read that" Mr. Matthews says the next day in class. "'History will be kind to me for I intend to write it.' Winston Churchill" Axel reads.
"And he did. Who's gonna write their own history here? What is history? I keep forgetting" The history teacher goes on. "History is time passing" Riley answers.
"Oh, yeah? How much time? Someone once said, '100 years from now, all new people'" The father says. "100 years." Maya raises her hand smiling.
"Wrong." The man points out. "You set me up."
"When should you guys begin to make your own history?" Mr. Matthews questions. "Now" Rose says.
"Good. So, today we're talking about Winston Churchill. When the new people come, how do you want them talking about you?" Mr. Matthews says. "Smartly?" Nathan says.
"How long do we have before history makes its decision about us?" Maya says. "What if they're writing it down now?" Farkle says.
"Doesn't matter. Chapter one: Introduction. Please read" The history teacher points to Rose. Everyone then flips to the right page. "There is a comfort in knowing that history is fixed. You can no sooner change history than you can change the nine planets in our solar system from Mercury to Pluto" Rose reads aloud.
"Oh" Everyone says unison getting the point. "What?" Riley questions.
"Nice job, Mr. Matthews" Lucas says pointing to the man. "What'd he do?" Riley questions.
"He just showed us history books can be wrong. You can change history" Nathan says. "I don't get it"
"How can she not know?" Axel questions. "Look at the bird!" Rose shouts pointing to a random direction.
